Dual Mufflers

Did a search and didn't find anything. Was wondering if anyone has done a dual muffler setup doing away with the Y-Pipe? Maybe it's a bad idea, I'm no expert in the exhaust area...

Re: Dual Mufflers

Several people have true duel setups. Mine uses an H pipe with magnaflow xls.

Thanks.
I will be around more often now that I'm almost done with my "pocket rocket" project.

Re: Dual Mufflers

I am running true dual exhaust with flowmaster 40s on my titan. Sounds nice and noticed a nice punch from them.

Re: Dual Mufflers

Hopefully this doesn't sound too stupid, but does having two mufflers make it any less loud or less drone than having the Y-Pipe and one aftermarket muffler?

I HAD a magnaflow cat-back on for a short while, but coupled with the AEM intake, it was freakin' loud, kids wouldn't ride in the truck loud. I've had Gibson and Magnaflows in the past on F150s with intakes and were no where near that loud, nice sound when you want it, not too loud when cruising. Thats pretty much what I'm after.

I can not talk for others with a dual system but my set-up (custom) has virtually no drone and idles quiet like OE but low and mellow. However when the RPMs are pushed, it sounds mean like glasspacks. It is a good balance between the drone and performance sound.
