Question 500th question about exhaust systems

Here we go again with questions about exhaust systems. I tow a travel trailer that weighs about 7000 lbs. Lookin for an exhaust to increase the ponies & torque, hopefully some increase in gas mileage. but withou the excessive drone in the cab. Your opinions are highly valued & I'm trying to make the right decision for the truck. Here are my choices:

1. Stock diameter pipes with either Dynomax Ultra, Magnaflow or Flowmaster 50 series & stainless steel tip. Can get the Dynomax & Flowmaster installed for about $170.

2. Full Cat Back system upgrading to 3" in/out pipes with one of the above mufflers & ss tip. You know how much that costs.

3. Duals with 2.5" in/out & the same choice of mufflers. Didn't get any quotes on that.

Trying to find that best all round system, so any help from the Titan Gang would be appreciated.

Re: 500th question about exhaust systems

If you tow alot keep the stock exhaust. I lost power when towing and I tow alot. The stock exhaust is going to give you the most torque while towing. Duals? you will lose alot of lowend torque. More than a single larger exhaust from what I have heard. Hope this helps.

Re: 500th question about exhaust systems

i just put a flowmaster 50 series on my truck. Single inlet, dual outlet with 2.5in tips. I dont know much about the hp end of it, but i can tell you that the sound you'll get will be loud outside, and fairly dicent on the inside. at stoplights and back roads you'll hear the exhaust is pretty loud but when you get up to speed, and on the highway, you wont even notice it. If you do the exhaust, get a K&N airfilter to go with it and that will help improve your mileage. maybe 1 or 2 mpg... hope that helps ya.

Re: 500th question about exhaust systems

Keep the stock exhaust and go with an intake that generates power at the lower end or has a powerband throughout the rpm ranges. If you really want an exhaust, a magnaflow does really well. Check out the exhaust thread that list numerous exhaust that were tested on the TITAN. The magnaflor catback came out on top. Thats just my two cents though. I don't tow as much but I do carry heavy loads, bricks, cement mix, dirt...and just about everything else from furniture to fish tanks. The magnaflow proved itself worthy.

Re: 500th question about exhaust systems

jsut replace your muffler with a glasspack, only slight drone, good mellow sound and no raspiness... plus you basically keep stock tubing so you wont lose bottom end... thats what i did and i love it... exhaust clips coming soon...
