I towed 3 dirt bikes, steel frame ez-up, gas grill, 2 full coolers and about 8 bins of crap, two huge gear bags, etc......I had to cut out the bed rail covers post holes and build sides in order to haul all our crap for a 1 weeK stay in the Idaho mountains. My '05 CC 4x4 with BT ended up averaging 14.5 MPG from San Jose, CA to Featherville, ID and back.
Before the CAI, I would be lucky to get 13.5 MPG with just a couple bikes in the back with almost no elevation change. With gas prices being so high, it will pay for itself soon enough.

Yeah What kind of performance did you get using the intake---low end, mid range, high end, throttle response, incab noises etc ????
I have posted this in other places....
I wanted to dyno with the Injen alone but things did not work out that way.
Here is how the Injen performed on "my Titan"combined with a catback exhaust (Banks Monster).
Remember... catbacks (or "modified" exhausts) and aftermarket intakes work hand in hand. Most folks know this so I'm not trying to sound like a guru here.... 'cause I'm not. lol.
When you look at the dyno sheet I have attached you will see the difference between the stock run and the Banks and Injen run were signifigant. Particularly, in the upper RPM's.
Don't pay attention to the dyno sheets posted at Injens site. It is extremely misleading.
Advantages for Injen?
It doesnt shove or force as much air in as the other intakes causing the engine to run richer.
It sure does look purdy.
Disadvantage?
It is perforated... so you are pulling in warmer air from the engine compartment.
Like most folks that do a exhaust/intake mod I lost some low end power. I was able to get that back with the +2 timing advance and a Poweraid TBS. I will also get a little more when I tweak my a/f ratio here pretty soon using Cipher.
Just my .02c... or more like .04c due to the length of my post.
Who said the Injen was all show and no go?

My seat-of-the-pants dyno tells me that my truck lost nothing in the low-end pulls much harder through the mid-range up to the top-end. It simply hauls anus. It sounds great, when it down shifts and sucks in all that air. It reminds me of my 1979 Trans-Am.
Flim, thanks for reposting your findings! The price scared me off so i ordered a V3, hope it works as well as the INgen. I do need a aftermarket exhaust next to reap the full benefits tho...
Stupid question though about your statement about shoving more in air causing a rich mixture, wouldn't more air in create a lean mix?

The Titan ECU compensates for all of that extra air and dumps more fuel. Its not that bad... but there is extra power to be had if you can lean it out a little more with a Consult II or Cipher.
The Volant is a proven intake. I just installed a V3 today. I hope to have a nice comparison within a few weeks.

The dyno seems a little low compared to others. Some are posting 281 or so to start and 305-7 after intake and exhaust. Do you have stock tires on?

FlimFlam have you looked at the "perforations" closely? On mine they are just for looks and the only air that is going in is from the "end" (or side nearest fender well) and the front side which both have screens on them. Are your perforations actually real? Have you cleaned your filter yet?

I feel the same way - that nothing was lost on the low end power range when I put on the Banks cat back exhaust system, Zoomers canon tip and my cold air K&N intake setup (black plastic FPK2 cold air intake). But it really woke up the midrange and top end - very similar rush of torque much like my 1975 Firebird with the 1969 428 and edelbrock eheads kind of rush - just not as fast as the Old timer (my Titan shows her weight when you compare her to a sports car it seems, but is much more fun to drive with the mods than it was stock from the factory.)

Good point. My bad for not choosing a better description.
No I havent cleaned my filter yet. I only have about 6k on it.
Correct... air is coming in from the fender well side and the front side of the intake box (via screens). But the box is not butted up against the fender well (like most intakes). So it is pulling in air from the fender and engine compartment at the same time.
When I ran the 1/4 at the track and did some 0-60 runs using Cipher, the intake air temp was very high. It was also hotter than the ****ens outside (upper 90's and high humidity). When comparing it to a Volant there is a difference in intake temps.
My point in this post was to show that the Injen is a darn good intake (others may still disagree and thats kewl) when combined with a less restrictive exhaust. I also felt that it would be good to point out some of its disadvantages too (all of which are my opinion and also based on facts... ie dynos).
CHIEFS!!!

Another advantage with the Injen that I have noticed since putting in the Volant is that it is much quieter. Now... don't get me wrong... you can hear the Injen when it goes to work, but the Volant is considerably louder (which is fine by me).
Just something for folks to think about that may be concerned about drone and extra noise from some of the other intakes available.
*disclaimer*
These are strictly my opinions. Everyone has different sensitivity to noise levels. Also, your performance gains/losses may be different than mine.
