Just curious about the curve on a stock tailpipe

What was this meant to do? Does it cause any exaust restiction? Why doent it just exit straight out to the side? I was wondering this because of the recent airbox mod I did I looked for other restrictions in intake and exaust. I know about the Y pipe restiction, but does this hurt exhaust flow in any way. With the 07 claiming 317hp, I would like to know where the extra 12hp came from.

Re: Just curious about the curve on a stock tailpipe

The restriction in the exhaust is the y pipe. It is a general consensus that the extra power is smoke and mirrors, was already there. The 04 and up were under rated. It's all marketing.

The Nismo CAI is not as good as the Volants we have installed.

Re: Just curious about the curve on a stock tailpipe

I was curious to see if you cut the curve off if it will change anything. I guess nobody has done this and I dont want to be the first. Maybe the exaust on the 07 has something to do with the extra power I will look as soon as I see one on a lot.

Re: Just curious about the curve on a stock tailpipe

I cut the curve off my 04 and had a chrome tip welded on. It looked 100x better.

Re: Just curious about the curve on a stock tailpipe

Who knows. The stock Titan pipe has a stupid looking bend, while the Armada has a smooth bend. To start with I had a Magnaflow tip put in place of that silly S bend on my truck. It made no difference. I gave it to a friend when I put my Zoomers on. Now that made a difference in my truck.

Re: Just curious about the curve on a stock tailpipe

I have always wondered this... and have come pretty close to hacking off the end of the thing a couple of times. I'd like to see it without.
