Black Box Tuner

One of the sponcers of this forum, Pro Auto Tech, has a black box tuner advertized for the Titan that they claim will give amazing HP gains. Anyone have one of these?

If I recall it's about $350 to $400, somewhere around there. That price include the dyno sesion if you're local to him. I know he had a Titan day at his shop and had about 10 to 12 guys show up for it. Check with SoBeGraphic, he got the most gain out of all the people that got one.

It work, the only thing preventing alot of people from getting it (including myself) is it, it's best to do it on a dyno so Ron can tune it for max. result. You can call him with a list of mods you have and he can pre-map it but you still need to dyno your truck on your own.

Re: Black Box Tuner

Just curious. Does the black box get hard wired to your engine harness before the ECM, or does it have a way of plugging and unplugging?
Does it also do timing adance as well as fuel curves? If it can do all that, who needs and ECU re-program, thats all you need to do! (unless your maxing out your MAF sensor and need a stand alone. say......supercharger!)

It's a piggy back system that get tap into the ECU, the box itself cannot do timing advance.

Ok, no timing advance.. .That sucks. I'd use one of my boxes to do that or an AFC

But does it plug in between your harness and ECM or do you have to solder it in? As an end useer, it would be great for people to just plug it in and go

Why do you think the drive by wire is so bad? spining tires don't let you go any faster

you can do it plug and play I had one on my Titan and removed it when I took the truck in for service. I also have an extra one that was programed for a Volant CAI and exhaust if someone is interested.150.00 shipped

Re: Black Box Tuner

most people who are racing dont just have a stock rear end, like my self have thr detroit tru-trac locker that and my bfg kdw's it's almost impossible to break traction.. so yea i think full throttle launches off the line at the track would help me..

where should i start... if i take off full throttle the ecu only lets a percentage of full until i reach 4900rpm's where i finally achieve full throttle, then at 5300 rpms the throttle closes again by 20% (giving you only 80% where throttle is needed the most) then as the truck shifts, throttle is backed off to meet the rpm/throttle % match as determined by the Ecu and the process starts all over again... i say if i hit the gas i want the gas... if it spins let me be the one who desides when to let off.. oh not to mention a good burnout is also imossible because you only get 10% throttle with the brake applied.....
