just found a good pic of our collector/intake... http://www2.dupont.com/Automotive/en...08e-1_high.jpg
doesn't look like much could be done with this, except to come up with a "ported" adaptor flange that would allow BIG TB to be mounted and see what we get.
Anyway, the most pressing issue is what it takes to retrofit the BIG TB to function with the existing systems, any TB gurus out there??
You will need to take something like a Helix Throttle body spacer and have it taper bored to match the TB and the intake. We did this a lot on our modded jet ski's - we would put twin mikuni 44's on but had to put a taper bored collar in there to match it up.
10-4 SoBe, If I don't get enough bang for the buck with Big TB, tapered spacer, & 4" cold air intake pipe with big cone K&N filter I may have to go deep and replace the intake manifold with a custom fabricated intake. However, I doubt that will be the case...
I'm leaving town for a few days but when I get back I'll post some neat calculations that appear to justify the need for Big TB...untapped horsepower!!!
Oh yeah, tuf-titan is out of pocket 2, but he promised to put his 2 cents in the pot in a couple of days also.

make sure you change the maf housing if it isnt big enough, i have done lots of work on 350z and G35s and i am getting into Titans now, i will have lots of new info here soon as i get on my dyno and start playing...
Audible Mayheim,
Will I be able to put my stock MAF sensor into a new 4" diameter intake tube that's cut-to-fit? I almost bought the MAF & housing from the same guy I got the Big TB (90mm) from, but just missed the end of the auction and wasn't sure if I really need that MAF & housing or not. (The seller was parting out his wrecked Q45, I think it was '93 or '94 my. One would think a different than stock MAF and housing would be required to get the right air volume output to the ECU. Please advise! I hope I can use my stock MAF since that would be less $$$.
Just got back in town and my Big TB has arrived via Ebay! Once I get things caught up around here I'll get some pics of the TPS wires & plugs from both the BIG TB & the stock TB.
I also owe some calculator results that I promised earlier but just need some time to touch up the Excel file to make it easier for all to interpret. However, this takes a back seat to the getting the TPS and MAF issues worked out.

What is the measurement of airflow in these calculators gm/s or lb/hr?
Also I have data using Cipher on the gm/s flow rate pass the MAF both of a stock and CAI/exhaust.
I'm visiting a 350Z/G35 shop (SGP Racing) in the morning to due some stuff and I'll ask them about this mod as well. Maybe 3 or 4 heads is better than one..LOL

Too many mods to list PM me I'll tell ya.
I performed a TB swap on my 1.6 GA16DE. I got a TB from a 95 SE-R and it bolted to my intake manifold of my 92 with no issue. The TPS even worked. I needed to adjust for voltage settings, but it works fine. Now, I got no gains and would not see any until I decide to TURBO the car.
I would see that if the plastic manifold on the titan can be bored the same taper to 90 mm. If not, don't bother. The TB can be machined by RC engineering for maybe 78mm bump, but why do it? unless you supercharge the thing, I would not bother. The titan intake is already smooth being plastic.
How about a new intake manifold tuned for more HP? make the torque curve a little higher for those who don't tow!

Sorry about the delay. I got back in town last Wednesday night and underwent back surgery on Friday, with GREAT SUCCESS...NO MORE PAIN!!! THANK THE GOOD LORD ABOVE I WAS BACK AT WORK TODAY!!! Nothing like my first surgery on the same ruptured disk about 3.5 years ago, much better this time.
Anyway, just had to share that I've had plenty of time and medication to put together the calculations I promised earlier. I've tried to highlight the key points in yellow, file is attached in excel format.
Also, I'll attach pics of my BIG TB which had arrived when I got back in town. Need help identifying what each wire's function is for this '93 Q45 TB!! Really need to know the pin-outs for both our stock Titan TB and BIG TB harnesses so everything can be hooked up correctly. I'll take a closer look at my Titan's electric TB controls, etc... once I get back up to speed from this surgery...
I'm only going to mod the air filter through the BIG TB and add an adapter to make it button up nice with a smooth transition to the stock plastic collector/intake.
Haven't heard from Audible Mayheim about the MAF issue, may have to PM him soon...

I hear you SoBe, anyway that's what I figured. If I can't get some simple technical info help along the way from this thread it won't stop progress .
I'll take any stock TB info regarding the electrical schematic that anybody could provide. Surely somebody has the service manual downloaded for 04 Titan that's reading this thread and could help a fellow out... In the mean time, I'll keep collecting the materials and if I have to even buy the service manual for both the 04 Titan and the 94ish Q45 to keep plugging away.
Everybody knows the aftermarket CAI's have improved performance with the stock TB, and the data provided previously shows that a larger TB and larger CAI should provide a significant increase in power over a stock TB with CAI set-up (given everything else is the same) since this engine has extra air intake capacity that can't be exploited with the stock 70mm TB. I'm not an air flow specialist but with a BIG TB (90mm) feeding an "air horn" style adapter to the stock collector/intake 72mm opening the engine will be getting the maximum amount of normally aspirated air volume possible, which equals one thing...MORE POWER!!!
After I get this project done I may go after the intake. This will take a while with my schedule but like any DIY project I'll learn much along the way and post progress from time to time. Got to run...
