I see.... so it's kinda like how exhaust velocity compliments low end right?
The runner length affects the timing on the amount of air entering the cylinders, as it bounces off the valves (when they are closed) and travels back up the manifold. This "timing" is tuned by the designers and is a compromise for best all around driveability.
adding a short adapter plate to mount a bigger TB isnt going to make a major dfference, and with the titans intake design, might not make any difference at all. These are just general rules and theories, not sure how it will react until its done.

Don't know where this is coming from..."Car" being new to the thread it might be suggested to please read back through the thread if you want to help.
I'm not changing the plastic intake manifold at all, especially the runners or plenum because they have been designed very well and are capable of handling more air than the stock 70mm TB can provide. Also, you say "adding a short adapter plate to mount a bigger TB isnt going to make a major dfference, and with the titans intake design, might not make any difference at all. These are just general rules and theories, not sure how it will react until its done". If you aren't sure then why the negative skepticism?
The stock plastic (nylon 66 engineering resin) intake manifold has a round cylinder shaped "neck" that routes all the incoming air from the stock 70mm TB into the plenum section of the manny. The ID of my manny's 'neck' measures 75mm. I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed and don't claim to be, but does anybody else out there think that a 75mm or larger TB replacement might allow more air to the engine and improve performance? Or have I just been smoking too much crack lately... .
Seriously though, I'm currently designing and fabbing an adapter plate to allow my used Q45 90mm TB to button up and feed all the air that our stock manifold 'neck' can swallow.
Please be patient and I'll update later once I get the prototype up and running. There are a lot of other details to work out as well so I'm cheking out for now...

Yes, an entire new CAI system will be developed once the adapter plate is finished with big 90mm TB mounted, plumbed, wired, manual throttle cable installed, and function checked out. It won't be exactly like anything else done to date but I'm not re-inventing the wheel just trying to make it roll faster...I'll share more later got to get off the PC and into the shop for now.

I think you misunderstood me. I wasnt implying that your larger TB wouldnt make a difference, I was referring to the addition of an adapter plate to mount it and the plate itself making a difference in driveability because of the different intake tract length.
I hope this works out well. Will eliminating the "drive by wire" cause any other negative effects on the ECM do u think? Does this truck use a tp sensor?

Throttle Body Spacers are out there so adding a adapter plate in the same location should work....but then again there is an idea for a mod on the adapter plate. Thanks car.

Too many mods to list PM me I'll tell ya.
Good luck to you guys, my friend (gearhead) said my stock TB looked "****" and was "smaller than the one on his dad's V6 Buick" when he first saw my truck. I dunno about the latter, but we went on a little run (85-110 3rd gear *** haul session) which promptly shut him up. I think the Titan can definitely use a bigger throttle body, its a large engine for a 70mm. I just don't understand why Nissan purposely made it smaller when they already had the 90mm TB laying around since the Q45 has been around since like '89.

you can thank the tree huggin hippies for that.. emmisions and fuel economy is the reason behind the 70mm, definatly would gain maybe up to 20hp with bigger tb and a "REWORKED CUSTOM INTAKE MANIFOLD" but no one wants to help the titan out, it gets really frustrating to see the potential this engine has but the only thing stopping is aftermarket support..

WE can't even get a chip in 3 years. Hopefully soon, I hope the new Tundra guys have to wait as long.

Has anyone on here tried the Tornado Fuel saver...as an alternative to a throttle body spacer? Just seems like a less expensive solution for the same 1.5 to 2 mpg increase.
Heres a link to what im talking about: hxxp://XXX.autopartswarehouse.com/performance/brand.php?makeid=19&modelid=306&year=2006&partid=8 443 (change X's to t's and w's)

1.5 to 2 MPG increase? What kind of drugs are you on?
These things are a joke and a waste of money. Feel free to send me your money. I can perform a performace mod to your truck over the internet to get the same results as a TBS or the Tornado.

Drugs...hey...tell that to the people who make them...they're the ones making that claim...not me. I've never tried it...I was just asking...obviously not looking for a smart *** answer, I'm not one of your punk *** friends.

Randyw was going to make an intake manifold as part of his stage 2 turbo kit.
