Volant CAI Missing Foam Pad

Well I recieved my new volant CAI today (day early) and because of the "hurricane" we were closed for buisness, which gave me time to install it today!

I remembered hearing people on here talking about the foam pad that goes under the sealed box...and its even referenced on my "parts list" but there wasnt one in the box.

Is this just for vibration dampening? Should I contact the seller and have him ship it to me, or is it fine without it?

PS: This storm was pretty pathetic, while its good as in no damage was caused...but im sure A LOT of buisnesses lost money for nothing today.

On a side note...getting a wednesday off right before a 3-day weekend rocks!

Re: Volant CAI Missing Foam Pad

Mine was missing the pad too. I was not going to worry about it but I heard the rattle. If your in Orlando I went to skycraft and picked up a pad, otherwise contact volant.

Re: Volant CAI Missing Foam Pad

thats an idea, but i submitted via volants website CS page. We shall she what happens.

On a side note: Im not overly impressed with the CAI. I finally had some dry asphalt today and its just a lot of noise, very little gains.

When I put the CAI in my Tacoma it was night and day.

Re: Volant CAI Missing Foam Pad

Did you reset you ecu?? And do you have a Cat back exhaust? You will not feel any real gains till you install a cat back system! Your takeing more air in but you can get it out to feel the improvement!

Re: Volant CAI Missing Foam Pad

No cat-back exhaust. There wasn't one on my toyota either and it was an insane improvement. ( i know two different trucks/motors )

Exhaust is next on my list, I just have to sell the topper in my sig before i can justify spending the loot.

If you don't get anywhere with the pad try contacting:

Re: Volant CAI Missing Foam Pad

Same with mine. It was missing the foam padding. I contacted Volant and the guy that i talked to said he would send me the pad but that it would not 'really' help with the vibration. Don't know. Good luck.

Thats because the stock tacomas were known to have a weak intake, where the titan's is already decent stock. My friend took the cover of his or drilled some holes (i can't remember) and gained a ton of HP...Titan does not have that restriction problem.

Re: Volant CAI Missing Foam Pad

hrmm, well once i sell the topper that came on my truck I can justify buying exhaust!

I just find it odd that there wouldn't be any gains from just the intake install. EVERY car I have driven that had one you would notice a decent amount of power being free'd up.
