Question New Titan owner, bolton questions

Hey guys Im new here thanks for having me. I have a 2006 4x4 crew cab and I was looking to beef up the titan a little. Im used to driving my vette and F-body cars that make over 500 RWHP. I know this a truck and not a sports car. What Im looking for right now are a good set of boltons for this truck for example intake,Long tube headers, and a cat back exhaust. If you could please lead me in the right direction that would be great.
Here are some of the my plans for the near future. I just bought a 5.6 engine out of a 05 Titan. Before I go further Im a grad from School of Automotive Machinist (SAM).

Re: New Titan owner, bolton questions

There are so many add ons now that you need to search the forums for each(intake, headers, and exhaust) so you can get the performance best for you. You can find just about any question you can think of on TT, so good luck and welcome.
Peace
JG
Oh Yeah,
My AEM intake looks, works, and sounds great! You could start with that.

Re: New Titan owner, bolton questions

I've talked to the guys at Pro Turbo System about fabing up a Twin Turbo kit for me. They've done work for me in the past. They used my 99 Super Sport to fab up the system they now provide for the public and I had a TT on my 02 Vette. This brings me back to the 5.6 I just bought. I will start by fabricating a sheetmetal intake, porting the TB or replace it with a Accufab. I will try to get in touch with Comp Cams about some cams. This motor kicks ***, its no 3rd or 4th gen motor but I love it never the less. Lets show those Fords, Dodge, and chevy guys what we are about!!!

Re: New Titan owner, bolton questions

There are some "stickys" in the performance section that may interest you. "Stickys" are in many forums here, but these will deal with the intake, exhaust, and other mods to boost HP gains. Stillen superchargers are probably the single biggest boost you're going to get, but you need deep pockets. Intake & exhaust may be good for 12-15 HP depending on the combo. Headers will add a little more but you need to be cautious as our cats are built into our headers so your state may frown upon eliminating them. Try the "search" option or just browse through the performance threads. The more recent ones will be more informative than the early ones from two or three years ago as we have learned a lot more about our trucks since then and the products and options have changed. Not to mention that adding lifts and big wheels & tires will add unsprung weight to the truck and many feel it becomes slightly more sluggish. So mod wisely for HP gains, but mod away! And keep us informed with tons of pictures!

Good luck and welcome to TT!

Re: New Titan owner, bolton questions

The way I see it you have to pay to play. I would be getting the twin turbo system at (Pro Trubo Sytem) at their cost. Kyle an exemployee and go to guy for John Hennessy will be building new computer software for the setup. I just want these boltons for the time being. As soon as the TT goes through I will place these boltons on my fathers 05 crew cab 4X2 titan. Love the these trucks just hate the MPG.

Re: New Titan owner, bolton questions

the ECU is the single biggest limiting factor of the 06... start there... then do the rest... find someone with an 04 or 05 and drive theirs, i did and now i am extremely dissappointed but also excited about what i can do

Re: New Titan owner, bolton questions

Let me know how the races went and Stuntdriver06 can you explain a little more 06 ECU? My father has an 05 4x2 crew cab. What should I be looking for? Him and I ran are trucks the day I bought mine. I beat him but then again he does not now how to drag race. We were just having fun at the lights.

Re: New Titan owner, bolton questions

drive yours then drive his.. the 06 ECU restricts throttle much more than in 04 and 05...

Re: New Titan owner, bolton questions

has anybody here tried to convert to cablewire driven? IF it could be done with vettes I don't see why it couldn't work with titan?

Re: New Titan owner, bolton questions

There are a few companies that have tried to work with the stock ECU with some mixed results. Go at it and tell us how you make out! Most of the big players wont even go near it eventhough we have loaded their inboxes with requests!

Keep us in the loop,

Re: New Titan owner, bolton questions

I will give Accufab a call and find out what they can come up with. The only thing I see being a issue is the ECU, meaning the diff. in 04/05/06 ECU.

Re: New Titan owner, bolton questions

Hey Tuf - welcome....

Look over here at data from an 04 ECU using software from a company called UpRev Cipher. There are quite a few data logs there and I can get you more in excel format. Take a look then tell me what you see.

UpRev CIPHER Software

Also since your in Houston lets meet up I'd be interested in your intake design.

If you wnata see what the truck is doing in N20 then look here: See post#'s 15, 23, 40
