Hi all, I'm new to the forums. About a month ago I traded in my '04 Frontier and picked up a '05 Titan LE for pretty good deal. Anyway, i'm always looking for ways to monkey around with my vehicles, and I remember seeing an insert of sorts that is supposed to help with gas mileage. I'm pretty sure it is put in an air hose with no other modifications. It is a small cylinder like object with slanted vortex like fins. Does anyone know what these are? And if so, do they actually work? Is there a loss of power? Thanks in advance
I heard they will increase your mpg by about 1-2, but does decrease your power. Thats from people who tried them on a grand am message board when I had my Grand am GT
I had the tornado before I put on my CAI and Banks and I swear the thing sorta worked. 1 maybe 2 mpg increase (total 19-20), but I think it actually works by decreasing air into the intake thus less gas, which is also less power. When I took it out I thought it opened up the power a little bit, until I put on the BANKS then it was WOT alot and the MGP dropped to 15-17. If you drive slow, accelerate slow ..that is the best way to improve MPG IMO. Or you could cut a wood block and tape it to the bottom of your gas petal so you can't push it to the floor and I guarantee that will work to increase your MPG ..LOL

As a past Journeyman, we used to see all kinds of goofy things added to the cars to get them better mileage.
Great story: had a guy come in one afternoon, just totally PO'd. He'd sent away for this "Guaranteed Gas-saving Device" and had spent like fifty bucks on it. When the box came in the mail, it was a bolt with a pair of nuts and a set of instructions that told you to drill a hole in the floor underneath the gas pedal and put the bolt in so it keeps the gas pedal from going all the way to the floor...
Needless to say, we all had a good laugh, and after the fella cooled down a bit, he started to laugh with us.

DUDE, your crazy..hope your not serious. Good luck getting those things in there and the tornado actually fits nice in the intake tube.
Lol, no kidding! But the tornado is a highly overpriced piece of aluminum... so you see my point. For 70 bucks, it had better jump out of the intake tube and suck my d!ck.

I had a Tornado in my Titan for 8k miles.....and I have checked every tank of fuel that's ever passed through my throttlebody ...... I boxed the Tornado back up and returned it to AutoZone for a full refund .... it added no fuel milage and no power or throttle responce improvements what so ever.....I drive 4500 miles a month.

Want the best mpg? Remove the spare tire and jack, the tailgate, then remove your rear seats for weight reduction. Remove the passenger seat, then remove the rear doors. Take off the front doors (this should bring you to about 4000 pounds) and then put your car on jacks and remove the tires for more weight reduction.
Leave truck in driveway. Ride bike.

I use to have a Tornado on my other truck and didn't do any good at all. However, others claimed that they gained HP and MPG.
Correct tire pressure and avoid quick accelaration (take it easy on your gas pedal) will help you save gas.... but then again, being easy on the gas pedal will take away some of the fun of driving the Titan.

I just might have to do that to my gas pedal...damn it sucks.
