Timing & CAI

I am confused...I've read on several threads that some cai requires a 2degree timing adjustment. I thought you could only do that if you have a distributor cap. I am new at this so please don't make too much fun. Also I have an 07' cc le 2wd and want to put some cai on it. Will K&N be ok. Can't find anything for 07's.

Re: Timing & CAI

The timing advance is done through the ECU. You don't need a timing advance to get a CAI. But a 2 degree advance will help get even more power. Go to a Titan meet, and you can likely get it done for free. Some dealers will do it also.

Re: Timing & CAI

No the CAI don't need timing advance. The 2* advance will give you some extra horse down low to mid. If you have CAI and exhaust the timing will probably give a better results than just timing advance alone. The advance is done in the ECU via the ODB2 port using either the Consult 2 or 3 device or software like Cipher.
Also welcome to TT.

Re: Timing & CAI

Meets are usually posted in the Regional sections,
http://www.titantalk.com/forums/texas-forum/
K&N should be fine, some others to keep in mind are Volant, AEM, Injen, NISMO. Contact member LANDMAN, he's in Dallas I believe and has access to Cipher which can advance timing. As for exhaust, any 04-06 cat. back system will still work for the 07. Stillen just released some exhaust for the 07 Titan also.
