Question Does adding performance mods void warranty?

I know this has been probably asked and answered 1000 times, but does adding Cold Air Intake, Thottle body spaces, Exhaust System Mods void the Titan's factory warranty? I really want to boost my fuel economy without messing with my warranty. Any advice? Thanks guys.

Re: Does adding performance mods void warranty?

for the most part yes..but a CAI and a cat back should be ok throttle body spacers might be an issue. Changing Cams/headers/head stuff like that will void warranty for sure, its tricky to mod and keep the warranty.

Here's a link explaining Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act a little. It's the act that provides the consumer some protection and puts the burden of proof on the dealer if they deny a claim.

I'm going to break down Magnusson-Moss in short for you.

There is nothing that can void your entire warranty. You can put a supercharger on your truck and the warranty will still cover your bed from peeling, your radio from not working, your passenger side floorboard from getting wet, etc. However, if you overheat your truck or your transmission fails due to stress and heat, the dealer can very well blame it on the supercharger and refuse to cover it under warranty.

The dealer MUST prove that the aftermarket part / mod in question CAUSED the factory part to fail. Period.

That's why I bought my Stillen s/c from the dealership that installed it. The service manager said because I bought it from them and they installed it, they will fix anything that breaks under warranty.

thats the best route to take...and Andrew thanks for the head up there.. I wasn't so informed I know when I modded my TRans Am and took it to the dealer I had a battle to get work done but once I spoke to his boss it was worked on.
