How hard is this to do? Would I NEED to jack the truck up? What kind of tools do I need, etc? I searched but could not find...Thanks.

Re: Removing factory exhaust and y-pipe

No Jack. Undo the cataletic converters and the bolts behind the muffler and it will slip right off in 5 min. It is a real help if you have an impact wrench. If you dont it might take 10 min.

Re: Removing factory exhaust and y-pipe

I found that getting the front off the ground a little helped me, since I am not what you would call a small individual. I just drove my front on to some blocks of wood, which gave me a few inches and helped. Since you are 2wd, and this is your first time messing with the exhaust, the extra room will be helpful. Other than that, its four bolts at the converters, and two after the muffler as others have mentioned, its a no brainer.

Very easy took me about 30 min to put the banks on, Sprayed WD40 on the bolts made a huge difference. Start from the front and work back so you dont find yourself stuck binding the muffler in. Other than that I did it on the ground level.!

Re: Removing factory exhaust and y-pipe

BTW Ag my daughter got under the truck with me and when we were all done she says to me. "Thats it? I thought we would do more than that!" Really its very easy. On a scale of 0 to 10 its a -8.

Went ahead and got the Volant combo deal...Got the Volant v3 cai and volant exhaust for $700 with free shipping. Exhaust is sweet, it's all T-304 stainless steel, includes the y-pipe and everything. I was going to wait a while to get everything, but I took my old intake off, and I miss the sound too much. I thought about keeping it, but I already promised someone I'd sell it to them, so I went ahead and splurged and got the volant combo...should be a pretty sweet setup, and you can't beat the price... I'm not going to post details of how to get this deal on the board for the sake of the other vendors, but just PM me for details...

Re: Removing factory exhaust and y-pipe

14 mm is what you need to get the stock exhaust off, and most exhuast clamps are 9/16 for the new kit.
