Question Want to get 20" wheels & tires-Need Help

I'm thinking about upgrading to 20's. Is there any advice from others that have them. Would I lose much as far as performance/gas mileage. And is there any measurements I should know about as far as rubbing and steering is concerned? Any and all advice will be appreciated. BTW, the 20's I want to buy came off a lady's Tahoe and she doesnt know anything about tire/wheel specs and they would be a great buy if I can use them on my Titan. Thanks guys.

Re: Want to get 20" wheels & tires-Need Help

They are performance killers....U can loose 1/3 sec in the 1/4 mile w/20's. I wish I would have picked a lighter tire for my 20's. Do a search for "unsprung weight" or "rotaional mass" They say each pound in rotational mass you save is worth up to 8 lbs of conventional weight. So if you can save 50 lbs between 4 wheels and tires, it would have the same performance gain as if you lost 400lbs out the cab of your truck!

Re: Want to get 20" wheels & tires-Need Help

I have a 20x9 MB motoring wheels. I have their "standard" offset. My tires are 305/50-20 Nittos. I've had the set since my truck was new and NEVER had a single episode of rubbing.

I personally lost 1 mpg using this set but not enough to make any big gas bill difference. For all its worth, though I know I could have done better with lighter wheels, my best 1/4 ET of 15.000 was using this set.

The 20" wheels and tires will clear the Titan's fenders if they cleared the Lady's Tahoe.
