JBA Headers

Im thinking of buying JBA headers on eBay. What do you guys say? Do they really add extra 20hp, or is it just a minor engine tune? Also with Stillen supercharger - do they replace headers?

Re: JBA Headers

in wouldnt even mess with the jba headers thier is lots of extra work involved to use them get the stillen long tubes or the powerflow headers.. and you will definatly need a tune afterwards any headers upgrade makes ya run lean.. uprev can tune for the lean issue and i think stillen has a programmer coming out next spring some time to correct the lean issue

Re: JBA Headers

The stillen and powerflow headers are not smog legal. It would be more work taking them on and off then doing it legal. Also your O2 sensors are no longer working because they are being tricked to think the cats are still there. How good can that be. Keeping the smog and O2 sensors is a better way to go. There is a guy who tried it all and found the best dyno hp increase was with the JBA headers and exhaust.

Re: JBA Headers

Nismo lives in Moscow, guys. I'm not exactly sure the U.S. EPA has jurisdiction there... Seriously, though, Nismo, what types of regulations do you have imposed upon your emissions? Is it strict there?

Re: JBA Headers

i don't know what your talking about mine is fully legal smog wise, i have had the Dynatech powercat high flow cats on mine for 5 months now and no emulators, no engine codes and guess what it passed TX smog.. and for the biggest hp gains that's horsecrap no way will a jba outflow the stillen or powerflows, a longtube header design WILL make more hp with proper tuning

Re: JBA Headers

I was looking at the same thing, but since I live in CA, I don't think I can...even if i did get hi-flow cats, i remember someone saying that if the cats are moved and/or modified prior to the car being 5 years old, it is illegal.

Re: JBA Headers

9/10 from my experience is the technicians running the smog check won't even look under the car, only time i seen one get kinda suspicious is when my friend failed smog then they where curious why it failed.. just by hooking up to the obd-2 port and talking to the computer thier is no way in hell the ecu knows the stock cats arent there, only thing they are looking for are codes thrown by the ecu and of course smog coming from the tailpipe..

Re: JBA Headers

If I were going to install headers I would get the Stillen or Powerflow long tubes. Either way... you'll still need a proper tune after installing them. So don't bother installing if you cant get it tuned afterwards.

CATS cannot be replaced untill the vehicle has 50,000 miles on it or the CAT goes bad. If it goes bad before 50,000 miles, it's a warranty issue anyways. The only way I see we can get away from having to get the JBA headers and stay SMOG compliant is for Stillen to incorporate a high flow CAT into their header design to replace the existing. Also, on a side note, Random Technologies CATS are a very poor quality product, they blow out way too easily. So I wouldn't even consider them if I were to buy again.

Re: JBA Headers

Way too much work to justify putting in shorties. Way to much envolved for a little extra output. If were a spoiled rich kid and will paid someone to put them in then I might think diff. My busted knuckels sweat and labor say so! My headers rock...just a pain to put in!

Re: JBA Headers

if all you are so worried about not passing smog you can always go to the ghetto with a few exta $, or just know the right people. i made a trip to the ghetto with my brothers rsx and my friends integra, wich both had DC sports race headers w/o cats. beats uninstalling and reinstalling just to pass for smog.

Re: JBA Headers

yea thier is always a way around the system, i lived in cali for 8 yrs and my show truck didnt have cats then either, lol i never failed smog, people just need to stop being pansys.. if you want something bad enough you will find a way to get it, at car shows, at the track, etc, you will always find someone who knows someone who does illegal exhaust work..and in my eyes it's not illegal if you replace the cats with better ones, i dont care bout the 80k mile bullcrud, im putting what works best on my truck, if the govt. or the state dont like it they can kiss my a$$.

Re: JBA Headers

cats can also be replaced if they are damaged. how can the smog place prove that you did not damage them and they were replaced illegally. its a truck, trucks go offroad, rocks...etc damage cats, replaced cats because they were damaged. i agree with the dude above me. there is always a way around the system.

Re: JBA Headers

I am selling a set of JBA headers, I never got to install them because no time. I was simply going to have a shop cut off the manifolds at the cat, tack the new headers on the stock cats, fit them in and then weld around. It isn't that hard a process for any experience exhaust shop. I am selling for $425 shipped and they are the stainless ones.

Re: JBA Headers

i have the jba stainless steel shortie headers and i am VERY PLEASE. i have the 05 LE with B/T for 19 months now and my header for about 14 months. i went with the gibson stainless steel dual side exhaust and the VOLANT C.A.I. my local dealer did all my mods because i dont have the tools or the time. my truck performance is noticeable vs what it was before. i'm being really serious here guys, my baby simply kicks butt and i am so happy with this truck and the way she really gets off the line. i travel a lot so i come across lots of truck brands out there so with few exceptions my baby more than holds her own. i push her hard whenever i can and this truck has never failed me yet. i'm almost near 50,000 and seems like she gets stronger all the time. all i need is that chip and i'll really be all set. i got my jba from stillen and the guys there told me that they would do the job and they never lie about that one because the headers do work and the HP gains are real. however i had all my mods put on around the same time and dont know about having any tuning done. just dusted off another titan this morning on the way to work, side by side at the light . light turn green and it wasnt even close and yes he wanted to test me because he was passing a lot of traffic to catch me. my truck performs just beautiful and i love driving it,i have lots of fun with it. two guys on my job are now serious looking at the titan. a ford guy and a chevy and i dusted them off months ago.
