Got my timing advance

I've had issues with my dealer willing to do the timing advance for me but finally yesterday with the direction in my hand he got a guy to do it for me. Charged me $45 and I was on my way. It could just be the placebo effect but I do feel like I got some low end back and it feels more constant through the power band. What did eveyone else notice when they had this done?

Re: Got my timing advance

Its not in your head, the effect should be noticeable, it was on mine at least.

Re: Got my timing advance

I agree. The effect is not huge but certainly noticeable. Particularly at the low end.

Many dynos proove that this mod is a great bang for the buck.

Re: Got my timing advance

My local dealer will not do it. Can anyone do this for me in Orlando or Melbourne FL?

Mine wouldn't either but I finally brought in the directions and told him to make mine a tester and you'll have people lining up to get it done. Also tell him that the cyper machine won't let you do anything to hurt your truck so it's all good!

Re: Got my timing advance

My dealer said the max advance they could give through the Consult was +5 degrees and he was actually willing to let me do it! I have had multiple 400whp+ turbo sentras and such through there so he knows I have the know how. He just wanted a sworn statement that I would run premium fuel and come in to back it down if any detonation/ping/knock.

Many times it's been posted about +5 available on the Consult (done for testing purposes) but never read of anybody going that far (surprising in itself). Are you the first +5 TA?! How is it?

UPDATE: Yes, I know +5 may not be better than +2, and the ECU may not keep more than +2. My Cipher has up to +7 IIRC as target, but +2 as actual advance/retard. Just thought I'd stir up some trouble and apparently I did, going by post below. I must say, you worked hard to get that advance done. Instructions and a sworn statement.

+1 on that. I am a Nissan/Infiniti Tech and of course i did the +2 and could go to the +5 and see if it will help. I'll post my finding on this Friday. I'll get "feeling" AND GTech info

Re: Got my timing advance

It won't accept it with the consult II or cosult III. I have tried them both. You can put +5 in if you want, but it will not accept it. Once you complete the process, go back and do a data monitor on the engine and you will see that it only goes 2* forward of what stock was.
