I have been looking online and trying to figure out different ways to bolt on horsepower. Has anyone tried the throttle body spacer from airaid? Looks convincing enough, but nothing like experienced owners testimonies. Was it a simple bolt on if anyone has? Also, there has been alot of talk about the cold air intakes, I know you get what you pay for, but has anyone tried the kits off ebay, you can get one delivered for about $100.00 and it has a shiney aluminum tube to connect the filter to the throttle body and claims about the same HP as K&N. Well, while I have your attention, the "power chips" on ebay that plug in under the hood for like $25.00 that suppose to give up to 25hp, anyone have any experience or words of advice? I understand that if something sounds too good to be true, well, normally it is, I am just wanting to do some mods but, like most of you, I work for a living and have 2 kids and extra money is hard to find, so kinda trying to mod on a budget. Thank you all for your advice and tips.
Joey
From what I know, all those useless junk from ebay is just junk and don't waste your money if your on a budget. If your wanting a little bit more power then add a reputatable intake, exhaust and a engine tune and you should have 10-15rwhp. There's not much performance unless you want to get seriouse and go forced induction. The only problem with intake and higher flowing exhaust is, you loose a little low end for some high end....

you said it will make poeple in florida super happy, does that mean it will do a good thing to the truck or bad. Does the tune make it get worse gas mileage. How do I go about getting a tune.
Well even though i am in the process of purchasing my new Titan, i will give you my 2 cents on past TB spacer experiences. I had an 01 silverado 5.3 and the TB spacer actually did help(who woulda thought?) i noticed a small improvment in milage too. For the money i would consider it a good mod. Although i must say it oonly seemed to be benificial if you already have an intake and exhaust. It had a cool little supercharger whine/wistle too if it doesnt bother you. for a hundred bucks go for it as long as you dont plan on going the supercharger route later on(you will have to ditch it)/
As for those ebay chips... there junk. anything for $10 buck will do nothing. dont fall for unproven gimicks or those lame "Tornado"thinks you see on tv with the old lady installing.
Let us know what happens if you purchase it.

sorry but that ws an inside joke between BBF and I.
so what exactly does a throttle body spacer do? i know its suppose to increase your MPG and your HP but how? seems like a good deal for about $100 but is this just a joke? anybody have one?

the throtle body spacer is like any thing else, by itself it doesnt do much if anything, but when you add that and exhaust and cold air intake you will get the most out of all of them....if you just do the tbs all you will get is the cool whistle that it gives you, but if your wanting to get the other two then you should do it....it takes time and if you can only get one at a time then thats what it takes, but you wont feel a thing with just the tbs but its a start
just like Mikus said. It kind of spins the air the natural way with gravitational pull to help bring air in faster and more efficient. something to do with gravity kinda like everyones toilet spins the same direction untill u pass the equator, then it goes the other way. im not sure if it applies 100% to air but it sounds good. and i know old hot rods used to use "volocity stacks" to ram are in. simalar concept but for modern engine desighns. But yes you will want an intake first to get full advantage. and then you will want a free'er flowing exhaust to get more air out due to more coming in. hope this helps. its worth it for only $100. if not sell it on ebay for $95
Nobody has commented on the intakes yet but I got my intake off of ebay and from what I can tell for $100 its pretty indistinguishable from a $350 intake. How much technology can you ask for in a pipe/filter? Install went well, had a little problem fitting the filter on had to do some cutting but other than that it worked out well, looks good and sounds good. You aren't going to see a big difference from one intake to the next and I wasn't going to pay any more for mine than I did. Honestly, my cheap intake did way more for my truck than my buddies AEM did for his Silverado. Obviously thats an apples and oranges comparo but I can say I'm very impressed with my no-name intake. It's shiny too

I've bought those cheap intakes and the filter will fall apart in about a year. Seriousely, each filter makes a big difference in power and air fuel ratio. I know if hasn't been discussed here very much but on the EVO forums, numerous intake filters have been dyno'd and it makes a very big difference in power and tunability. I personally would never touch a cheap intake kit again. They use those cheap glue to glue the filter together.

Guess its the luck of the draw then because mine came with a boxed KnN intake filter
