yet another exhaust question

after searching through countless exhaust posts, i still am unable to find what i need.
being in the northeast, my exhaust is all rusty and the truck is only 7 months old. i would like to replace my factory exhaust on my 06 se cc 4x4 with a stainless one. i do not need a dual, nor anything loud. i'd prefer a stock type replacement, but in stainless. MAYBE i could go a little louder, but for the most part i do a lot of long distance towing, and a constant drone would drive me out of my skull. any advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

Re: yet another exhaust question

Is the exterior rusty or it rusted through? if the truck is new there should be some sort of warranty on the exhuast if it rusted trhough and leaking. I know it's not your solution but it would buy you time to find what you want.

Re: yet another exhaust question

I don't think you'll find a stainless factory exhaust. I know banks and others are stainless but they'll all be quite a bit louder.

Re: yet another exhaust question

The factory exhaust is 409 stainless. Yes, 409 can show surface rust but should last at least 8-10 years. If you do a lot of towing, stay with the factory exhaust.

is it really stainless? hmm... it looked like run of the mill tin. i was poking around under there to make sure all the bolts on my rear end job were successfully tightened, and i noticed the exhaust was pretty ugly compared to everything else. no big deal then, i will prob just keep it. thanks for the responses.

Re: yet another exhaust question

409 is a ferritic stainless steel. It has a lot of free iron and it will surface rust. It should in theory take at least 10 years to perforate according to steel manufacturer corrosion tests. Besides, I know that Nissan performs exhaustive (pun intended) vehicle corrosion tests in AZ and in the Tochigi, Japan proving grounds. They literally salt fog the vehicle for months.
