First, print off this post: http://www.titantalk.com/forums/552804-post42.html
Try to talk to one of the dealers Consult qualified techs one-on-one.
Show him the post, and tell him that hundreds are doing it all over the country, both the Titan and Armada. If you can get a tech curious enough, he might try. the service writers almost always say "no"...

If you can get him to search the TT and CT forums for "timing", he will see for himself.

Or, if you are lucky, someone in your area will have a Cipher and will PM you. Usually, a small fee to help offset his costs for the Cipher.

Re: My 2 Degree Timing Advance Dealer Experience

My dealer did the advance after I printed off one of the threads that explained how to do it. They were doing some other warranty work and only charged my $29 to do it.

Advanced from 16 to 18 according to the printout. Any way of knowing if they adjusted the idle?? Idle seems like it may be a bit lower, definitely not higher. Would this be correct??

Thanks
Steve

Lol, hopefully their TTP's on the advance are locked on. My visit was definitely a sneak attack...

Kilwity, I know that you are a good ways away from Abbeville but I know that they do it in Abbeville, LA. I believe it is at Giles Nissan there.

Most come stock at 15, some at 16. per shailey -- his was 16.

they are set to minimize noise and polution, not maximize performance.

Re: My 2 Degree Timing Advance Dealer Experience

Just some more confirmation of the butt dyno after the 2 degree advance....

I made some test runs with the same G-Tech that was within 1/100th of a second accurate to the tree at the track Drag Strip-G-Tech Comparison Video And Drag Strip Vid of Chevy Z-71 4X4 Vs. Titan (E.T., mph was fast) and pulled off two runs averaging 14.5 1/4 with an average of 6 seconds 0 to 60.

I've added the additional snorkel for the volant and the 2. advance since I ran last 14.9 at the track. 14.5 doesn't seem too far fetched too me as the track will tell the finial truth. I hope to have a real tune done by then. (Cobb, Stillin, UpRev).

I also think it's relevant to mention I'm running 275/55/20's now vs. the stock 285/75/17's.

Using the tire size calculator http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html the new setup has a diameter of 31.9 inches vs. 33.8 inches with the stockers.

Stock 17 wheels with stock 285/75/17's:

Sidewall: 8.4 in
Radius: 16.9 in
Diameter: 33.8 in
Circumf: 106.3 in
Revs per mile: 596.0

New 20 Gunner 6's on 275/55/20 Parada Spec- X

Sidewall: 6.0 in
Radius: 16.0 in
Diameter: 31.9 in
Circumf: 100.2 in
Revs per mile: 632

Speedometer with non-stock tire reads 5.7% too fast.
When the speedo reads 60 mph, the actual speed is 56.6 mph.

Merry Christmas all or Happy Holidays for the politically correct!

Re: My 2 Degree Timing Advance Dealer Experience

My dealer in Eugene Oregon was GREAT !!! ( Lithia Nissan ) ... Told them what I wanted ( 2 degree timing advance ) ... NO PROBLEM . Was done quick with no hassel .... and was also giving to me FREE ( totally not expected ) ... I am very happy with the results. Seems to be a little quicker from the start . Well worth doing .... My dealer experience was GREAT also !!!!
