lol i went to my Nissan dealership today and asked them if they knew how to do the 2 degree timing thing, they had no idea. so i told them that a bunch of guys on here have been doing it and what it does. he said i will try it plugged it in and he changed it 2 degree and changed the idle 75rpm. thanks guys for all the info so i could explain how to do it. lol i asked them how much he said don't worry about it. and i could tell a difference. even all the tecs said there was a dead spot and now not any more or maybe its in my head. but o well it was for free.
I have tried 3 dealers in the Sacramento area and each one is either outright refusing to do it or pulling some bogus "...uh....it won't pass smog..." or some other lame excuse. Stockton Nissan did it for a CT member, so it might be time to make the drive...
What's the drive from CA to FL???? Might be time for a road trip!!

It basically makes the truck more responsive by keeping the engine at "ready" all the time.
I havent tried asking any dealers yet but word is you can get it for free or more commonly $20-$40. Some folks have bought the software and cables and can do it themselves but i havent found anyone else in Connecticut, the "other" forum has a lot of NJ folks on it but thats a far haul too.
Eventually I will ask the folks at Middletown Nissan and hopefully have the same luck as carcrazy!

Yeah, I live in Tampa as well and the Brandon Nissan wouldnt do it, where I bought the thing, and I refuse to go to Courtesy Nissan on Hillsborough, after a really bad experience. I am going to try clearwater though....thanks for the heads up.

Thats not how I understood it. I understand that the Titan has set parameters and this procedure only changes the ceiling of the timing limits.
The engine compensates based on gas ping so you can use 87 octane, but you will never reap the benefits of the advance at WOT unless an acceptible octane is used.

Sactitan, I arranged for Stockton Nissan to do the 2 degree advance for myself and Dawgs last week. No problem. It was $50 for them to do the advance, then test drive the truck. It took about 30 minutes. Good luck with getting yours done. I've noticed a difference, and while I switched from unleaded regular to the mid grade gas, I've gained a bit in mileage, along with a noticable difference in acceleration. Dawgs measured a gain in HP and torque.
