Stillen Exhaust Issue

So I had a stillen exhaust installed @ Stillenday.

But while under my truck the other day I noticed this wire going to my brakes had melted on the new exhaust pipe...

What should I do and how much will this cost to fix? I would assume this wire controlls the ABLS and Anti Lock Brake?

Re: Stillen Exhaust Issue

Depends on how the Dealer is on where you take it..
Can maybe slide under Warranty.
You need to to let Stillen know about this - esp. they installed it for you..
** I have a extra set of Rear ABS/Speedsensor wires if needed. **

Re: Stillen Exhaust Issue

1. Contact Stillen. They will surely want to see this.
2. Any parts store or on summitracing.com has all sorts of insulation for this thing from tape to wraps...

Good pictures!

Re: Stillen Exhaust Issue

Contact Kyle and link him to this thread. Maybe a odd thing, mine is all good and have had my exhaust on for a year and a half.

Nope not yet, I think the wires might still be ok, just a little concerned that they might not be since it's melted about 40% through, and they involve brakes! I could not see them through the melted goo. I'll link Kyle and see what he says.

I have some Header Wrap, I guess I could wrap the exhaust in,would that work? I know my dealer will not warranty this since it was cuased by an aftermarket exhaust.

Hell I'm having a hard time even getting them to install a non-warped window! Just had them order another one (will be the 4th one) Wasted this weekend taking it in for window, seat squeek and some chatter from the outside, got the car back washed, armoralled and looking good, but not a single issue was fixed!

Re: Stillen Exhaust Issue

Sounds like a zip tie got cut or broke. Im sure stillen is aware of that wire and would not leave it in harms way like that. Like said before contact Kyle. They will probably cover the cost especially considering they installed it.

Re: Stillen Exhaust Issue

If anything break the insulation on the wire if you think it maybe a problem, and make sure it isn't cooked all the way through. Use about four zip ties like I did when I installed mine and keep it from harms way until you decide what to do with it.

Might be just a electrical tape job with some zip ties to fix it.

Re: Stillen Exhaust Issue

Zip Tie Broke? I don't remember any Zip-Ties being there... Not really sure what you mean about using zipties to keep in out of harms way either.

Theres no solution for this?

Should I just see if still will re-install my stock exhaust?

Re: Stillen Exhaust Issue

They would like me to come in so they can replace the wire, I have no idea how they plan to solve the problem to preventing it from happening again. Trouble is I can only bring my truck in on the weekend, and they only work on Sat every 3 weeks, so it is going to be hard to schedule an appointment.

Re: Stillen Exhaust Issue

from a quick look theres not really much to zip tie it too, other than well, the shock.... So yea it appears one of the gromits was out of place a bit which directed the line closer to the exhuast than it should have been (the one in the picture that appears t be all the way in is not). I'm not too trusting of those gromits anymore.

Re: Stillen Exhaust Issue

I looked at that on mine and it was a good distance away. I was going to take a pic but camera is jacked up.

I had a feeling it was the gromet based on how it looked.
