TrueTrac vs Lock-Rite?

Does anyone know anything about this? Lock-Rite(pic below) makes a differential that is about half the price of the TrueTrac. But, do they make one for the Titan? Furthermore, if they do make one for the Titan, how does it compare to the Truetrac? Because I have no clue about these things, I was hoping someone with more knowledge could shed some light on this subject.

The website that I got the spec information below is: http://www.rearendparts.com/manufact...ufacturerid=26

Lock-Right Locker Nissan 9.1" H233B 31 spl Open

Detroit Locker Nissan H233 31 Spline

I don't want to skimp on quality so I'm not opposed to spending more money for a superior product. On the other hand I don't want to throw money away if I can get the same quality of product for less. Any ideas?

Re: TrueTrac vs Lock-Rite?

If they do make one for a Titan, price will probably be comparable to a truetrac due to the smaller market. Just look at the truetrac, the one for the domestic are much cheaper. Can't compare it to a truetrac since one does nto exist yet.

Re: TrueTrac vs Lock-Rite?

They just told me it was for the old 233 rear. not sure if thats the frontier or hardbody. my guess is that the will not be making one and if they do it would be just as much a tru-track.

Re: TrueTrac vs Lock-Rite?

Lock-Right is a true locking differential that replaces the spider gears. It is a very strong and effective locker. Way better than any limited slip. I run one in the rear of my CJ-5 Jeep.

As with many lockers, it does have some bad "manners" for those who are not used to them. It makes a ratchetting noise when going around corners at slow speed (sort of a clicking sound). It can be a little startling in how it behaves when you get on or off the throttle, but all lockers do this. For instance, if you let off the throttle when going around a corner, you can get the sensation that the whole rear end of your truck "steps out" a few inches. You quickly get used to this.

The parent company, Richmond Gears, also makes a soft-locker variation which costs a bit more and is quieter. In my Jeep I don't care. It is great value for the price if you want or need a true locking differential. I would not put one in the front of a truck driven on the street.

NOW THE BAD NEWS: The locker featured at the start of this thread is for the H233B corporate Nissan rear end. That is NOT what is in the Titan and IT WILL NOT FIT. The H233B fits Hardbodies from mid-'86 to 1997 and some Pathfinders.

http://www.purenissan.com/lockright_locker1.htm

I have been in contact with the Richmond staff and they will produce one that will fit the Titan diff, if there is enough interest. They were monitoring this site for quite some while during the debate a year ago or so about limited slips and lockers, but everyone back then seemed to be more interested in limited slip diffs.

The H233B Lock-Right is a brand new design and is the first locker from Richmond Gears for any Nissan product. This might mean they would be willing to put one out for the Titan's modified Dana if there is enough interest.

Well I, for one, would be interested but it comes down to price and availability. If Lock-Rite were to make one for about the same price as the Truetrac, but I had to wait 6 months in order for them to get them into production, I would probably go ahead and buy the Truetrac. Thx for the info, very helpful stuff.

Re: TrueTrac vs Lock-Rite?

I have heard but not confirmed that ARB is suppose to be doing something for the Titan. I looked at their website and all they have are air lockers which I don't want.
