Re: Can we make a sticky of who can give 2 degree timing advances??

I got mine done at a dealer over here $85.00. Didn't care how much it costed at that time just wanted it done and cost didn't matter. Other people payed about the same back then. No one at that time have even the software to do it but them. Now there is 2 maybe 3 that have it. I don't do it for the money just need to eat. LOL I work 2 jobs just to support my Titan habbit. Still have no regrets about paying that much yo get it done. Still looking at other mods with no end in site (hopefully), I maybe broke but hope to have a quick truck...

Talked to Melloy Nissan here in Albuquerque. They wil do it for $85.00. They also said that I would need to run super unleaded in it or the engine would ping. Anybody know if this is true or not.

That's bs. I ran 87 and 89 octane all day long with no problems. My truck personally ran best on 89 (prior to Osiris)

Re: Can we make a sticky of who can give 2 degree timing advances??

went to my dealer today. he said he would do it for free!!!! ........but then as he was checking the timing before he did... he said the words "oh no". i said what. he said he cant do it cuz 1) i was runnin rich. 2) it would be dangerous to do it because my truck's timing was flickering from 15 to 16 already so... i'm soooo pi$$ed right now. you have no idea. so.... anyone in New Mexico??? (i have an 04 with cai and exhaust)

Re: Can we make a sticky of who can give 2 degree timing advances??

Unless it's out of this world you typically can not hear detonation on a small scale.

What your dealer told you is corect. You run the possibility of causing detonation with the advance and you should run a higher octane fuel. 89 should be good enough to keep the truck from pulling the timing back.

If you ran 87 and you had slight detonation...you wouldn't even know. The truck would automatically yank your timing without you having any clue what's going on...nor would you even notice it.

Boy your dealer backed out of that. Did he tell you what it was running at. The Titan Idles at 14.7ish from the factory. And will cruise at about this A/F ratio also. 14.7 is a lean mixture...lean mixtures and alot of timing can hurt....rich and timing won't hurt a thing...rich is safe!!!! Lean is dangerous!

So...your timing was flickering from 15-16....yup...that's about corect...it needs to be adjusted up to 17 or 18 target idle!!!!
