Re: Can we make a sticky of who can give 2 degree timing advances??

Seriously guys, several members are doing this service for free as a gesture to their fellow Titan owners. Do what you like, and I'm sure some will pay whatever the market will bear. But personally, and I may be biased since TitanBlue did mine for free ( THANKS, TB!!!) but I'd have trouble charging people for it as well. I've helped a few guys out with free installs and such. It's just what we do. Sometimes there's more to be received from lending a hand than monetary advancement.

Re: Can we make a sticky of who can give 2 degree timing advances??

considering i've spent 900.00 for a laptop and 700 for osiris, that's 1,600 bucks in last month for me.. I'd like to recoup atleast some of that, i bet if you went out and spent 1,600 bucks also recouping 20 bucks here and there would be nice also.. Not like I'm charging dealer prices if they arent fine with paying 20.00 fine, no ones feeling will get hurt, but only place i'll do it for free will be either at the track or titan meets, only because it's not taking time away from my already busy schedule of working 6 days a week......

Re: Can we make a sticky of who can give 2 degree timing advances??

I for one think it's good to have a list of people who are willing to do this whether it's for free or not. Seems like there's at least one new thread per day with someone asking for it, and they're always grateful since so few dealers will do it and charge an arm and a leg. Don't think this thread is worthwhile? Since Toomny started this thread this morning I've already had 3 people contact me asking for help with it.

Nice idea Toomny.

Re: Can we make a sticky of who can give 2 degree timing advances??

That's cool. We all understand why people charge for it. The truth remains, that's most likely not all the computer will be used for, so that money isn't technically recoverable. It's like claiming your truck payment as a tax write-off because you drive to and from work in it, so it's a business expense..... And in your quest to drop your 1/4 times, $$$$$ is going to have to be burned. This you accept, judging from your mods. The Osiris, well, that's the price to pay for speed. $20 isn't a lot, agreed. And I'm sure many are happy to pay that. It's just a difference of personal choice, I guess.

Re: Can we make a sticky of who can give 2 degree timing advances??

if you were smart you would have done this thread differently.

Have people list names and or places that do it. If that person/place is contacted financial details can be exchanged at that point. Problem solved

To come out right and state the price your charging IMHO makes it look like exactly what you were doing. Trying to recover $$$ with a mod that YOU YOURSELF wanted but as a side bonus can hook people with the advance. Agree 100% with what BB said.

Re: Can we make a sticky of who can give 2 degree timing advances??

I would gladly pay $20-$25 for the timing advance.

I think the original post was a great idea and I will be checking it daily to see if anyone in western NC steps up........

Re: Can we make a sticky of who can give 2 degree timing advances??

All's fine guys, let's chill!

Technical Note: Osiris can only tune one ECU, but do Timing Advance on any.

Now guys, I'm going to let my gaurd down and would like to share a thought or two. I've been on both sides of this one (with a bit of anxiety really).

I bought Cipher and had a buddy immediately offer to pay to do his, so I came to a fair price that did not need change made, and was in ballpark or lower than others were charging. So I made it 40 bucks. (At the time, 400 bucks for the Cipher was a lot for us, life is better now). Only expected to do that one, maybe a couple more eventually... I did enough (quite unexpectedly, I was really shocked how many looked me up) and eventually had more than recovered cost of Cipher and Tune (never my intent, but the wife got most of it anyways; she deserves some mad money anyway!) So then I went to doing it for free to help draw more into the Charm City Titans (still trying to get that established better).

I'd just recommend doing what you're comfortable with. I personally would have somebody PM for cost instead of listing it too much. I don't want anyody else to feel uncomfortable because they charge a little, and somebody else doesn't. But I did get my idea of fair from post made here. As you can see, I've really been on both sides of this fence. We all have different financial abilities and motivations, that's OK, really............

I love doing it, love to help, and money doesn't motivate me. Maybe that's why I am just an average joe...ha ha! I've now done about 53 tunes, and look forward to doing more. I've met so many nice men and women and their families and friends too. I really enjoy the social aspect of this Titan hobby. Thanks for the accolades bbomar and blackbeauty, et al. I obviousely didn't want to post, not with my pricing! LOL! My Osiris cable is due in a few days.

So, yes, TitanBlue does it for free, just PM me or come to the CCT meet or NJ and we'll get it done!

Thumbs up Re: Can we make a sticky of who can give 2 degree timing advances??

South Atlanta. Saturdays & Sundays. I don't charge but a $20 dollar bottle of Jager is what is required for anyone to meet me in person That is way way WAY less than half of what I paid. Is there something wrong with getting paid for a service.... money talks and... well you know the rest.

Taking time out of busy lives has to be worth something....much better than giving the dealer 80 bucks...

Re: Can we make a sticky of who can give 2 degree timing advances??

Toomanymods did mine for $20 yesterday. I think thats a very fair price considering him going out of his way to do it and the cost of the stuff. If you are over $20 maybe you should sell your truck and buy a Kia

Re: Can we make a sticky of who can give 2 degree timing advances??

Chris how dare you spend all that money then expect to charge for taking time out of your day to give someone something that a dealer typically charges 3 to 4 times more for!!!! LoL

My dealer does it for $75. Found a dealer 30 miles from me that does it for $50.

I'm in Central California...Modesto area. If your in need of an advance look me up!
