Re: building turbo for my o8

I believe your best bet will be uprev. But I doubt that they have had that much experiance with the 08's. good luck. uprev.com I belive is the site.

Options in order:
2 degree timing advance thanks to Titanblue,
Fram AirHog, Nissan Hood Protector, Truxedo, Nissan XM receiver (mounted under steering wheel area as per Forum recommendations....worked like a charm)
with non-Nissan much smaller Xm antenna (mounted through Third brake light hole...piece of cake), and last....so far, PRG leveling kit (love it....no problem install after I realized that I really should listen to PRGreg about disconnecting the anti sway bar)

Re: building turbo for my o8

That could be very difficult to do. Best of luck and keep us updated on how it goes. There are only two tuning softwares I know of. Stillen and UpRev. Stillen is plug and play and UpRev is pre loaded maps. The Stillen is not yet available for the 07 or 08 because of the VVT, iirc. There are no tuners out yet that will allow you to tune yourself. Also, no one to my knowledge has cracked the TCM.

I seem to remember that uprev hasn't done anything for the '08's either. The ECU's are different. Could be wrong on that though.

They can tune the 08, they have tuned many 07 which does not change to the 08 (engine mechanical wise).

Cipher does not work on the 08's nissan changed something with the computers and I don't think uprev has even began to work on it. Good luck with you project others have tried and failed. Hope you can get it figured out.

Re: building turbo for my o8

Right now I'm just doing the research. the turbo install is going to be the easy part, I know that. does anyone out there know where i can pick up a wiring diagram for the pins on the ecu?? that would be a great help with even fuel tuning. hey dodson917.. whats with the tcm? (timing control module)??? never heard of that> what is it. like i said I do not have experience with nissan and i have found it hard to find most info about them.

Re: building turbo for my o8

There are many who are much more knowledgeable about this than I. The Titan has two computers. The ECU and the TCM (from what I understand). The TCM is the computer that controls the transmission. No one has been able to crack it to my knowledge so shift points can not be changed. I am sure someone will chime in and give you more info.

Re: building turbo for my o8

What turbo do you plan on running? At the very least you will need a higher flowing fuel pump and bigger injectors. Look into an Apex'I SAFC(super airflow computer), piggybacks to the factory ecu and IF(i believe they work with the Z's ecu) it will work with the titan's ecu will allow you to tune your a/f ratio's on a dyno and allow seperate maps for differernt grades of fuel. They are commonly used on import turbo cars, had one on my supra and it worked great. I'd also look into a thicker metal headgasket then the factory HG, thicker gasket will reduce compression and allow for more boost with less chance of deto. To make a turbo work on a titan its going to be an expensive project if you want it to last. Also don't skimp on your intercooler either.

Re: building turbo for my o8

your better off running a twin turbo setup to keep the custom manifold work to a minimum.

things you will have to upgrade would include injectors, fuel pump, transmission valve body, and larger oil cooler.

what you should do is contact GReddy and Uprev. GReddy was one of the first companies to develop a twin turbo setup for the 350z's and should give you a good starting point putting all the pieces together. Also Uprev has expierence un-coding the ECU/ECM for the Titan and could give some insight what this would take to do to the 2008 model.

but i wouldnt be suprised if this puts you back 8,000 to 10,000 to have done.

add to the list a fully built tranny from IPt no way in hell is the stock one going to hold 450+rwhp and 500+tq on a daily driver.. might cost like 3,500 to fully beef it up capable of holding 700 horses..
