You can probably expect 100-130 additional HP, but it will be at a high rpm range since the STS won't start making real power until about 3000 rpm. You can always add an intercooler, bigger turbo, more injector, etc. to make as much HP as you want, or until something fails.

I would do all that, except the bigger turbo. If I'm not getting power until 3000 rpm, then adding a bigger turbo would just not do it for me. I would prefer a couple of carefully sized underhood twins.

Think about this: The Chevy guys that I know of who are among the fastest trucks with these kits didn't keep them. When it came to really turning up the wick the STS systems got ditched for either an underhood turbo or a big twin-screw Maggie. Even on trucks were aftermarket tuning is well supported the systems could be troublesome to tune with weather changes. Also, who wants a system where 5 minutes with a cordless impact driver nets someone a new turbo? The only advantages the STS kits have is simplicity and cost compared to a typical supercharger kit. When it comes to upgrading they quickly start showing a weakness.

I would disagree with the tuning difficulty with an STS. Both Diablo and HPTuners have complete programs for an STS for GM applications. For my GTO is STS is perfect since I don't see any real traction off the line. Most GTO owners say the boost really hits hard from about 45mph and above - just where I need it.
The Titan is different. To increase the turbo spool, you will need to:
1. Keep as much heat in the exhaust as possile. This will involve coatings and wrap.
2. Keep the exhaust piping to the turbo as short as possible.
3. Use a smaller A/R ratio. This will limit the top end, though.
4. Upgrade to ball-bearing turbo
5. Use a smaller turbo.
I doubt that I would use an STS on my Titan since I need my truck to be a truck, which means low end torque and not high rpm horsepower. For the low end torque, it is tough to beat a roots supercharger.
I think Santa is bringing me a NOS kit........this turbo stuff just isnt practical for my Titan. Until the S/C get the kinks worked out and i can tune with something other than a Unichip I will pass.

The tuning has probably improved but the STS kits do have a higher level of difficulty in tuning transient response as there is so much extra tubing that has to be pressurized.

I am keeping my Unichip PNP unit for a special occasion however. LOL
So.......this idea isnt totally too far fetched for me. I'm ready for boost of funny gas.
