Question 2 Degree Advance Increases Fuel Consumption???

I went to the 2 Degree Timing Advance website and one of the first quotes
says that Fuel Consumption Increased after the Advance". Is this true?

If you were to make your engine perform better, would you not get better fuel ecenomy IF YOU MAINTAIN YOUR PREVIOUS DRIVING HABITS?!?!?

Re: 2 Degree Advance Increases Fuel Consumption???

Not sure I can think of how it would increase fuel consumption....with only two degrees.

Re: 2 Degree Advance Increases Fuel Consumption???

It dropped mine. I'm not a 'hot-rodder' and drive my truck the same usually and before the advance, I was getting usually 14-15 mpg, no matter how I drove it. Then after the advance, it changed to 12-13mpg, no matter how I drove it. I haven't seen 15 mpg since the advance, and that includes several trips across the PA turnpike where I used to see 16+mpg.

So was it worth it?? Is there enough gain in power to compinsate for the fuel loss??

Re: 2 Degree Advance Increases Fuel Consumption???

I think so, for me, it's only noticeable in the low-end. Others who had exhaust and CAI who then added the 2* advance after said it makes a very noticeable difference.

Re: 2 Degree Advance Increases Fuel Consumption???

I pulled my advance back off and my fuel got better, and then i pulled mt CAI off and it got better again....It went back to 16 plus per gallon...I have an 07 and im back to my average 400 miles to the tank like when it was new. After I pulled the advance and CAI off...I still beat two other Titans on the freeway....dont know if they had anymods or not but still took em....Im staying stock with the magnaflo only till gas comes down again...LOL....just my 2 cents.

Re: 2 Degree Advance Increases Fuel Consumption???

rgregory1965,
Given that you're the second person that says that, I'm speculative about doing it now..... I may just put my TrueFlow filter on and call it done for HP mods.....if anything else, I might try something like the Hypertech E-Con programmer if they ever come out with one for our Titans....They report 2-6 mpg increase from that thing.......Hmmm
