What muffler should I buy to replace my JBA?

I'm not at all worried if the truck gets quieter, but I don't want to sacrifice performance. So far I have been looking at either the Dynomax 17547 or Magnaflow 12579. What are your thoughts? Any other suggestions?

Would I benefit from a shorter muffler performance wise??

Re: What muffler should I buy to replace my JBA?

i have the fm 40 series and i love them. sounds more aggresive and louder than other titans ive heard in my area. jus my .02. i hear magnaflows are best for performance or the super 44's. i think most are about the same.

Just in case I didn't like the sound on the JBA, I looked into a Magnaflow replacement muffler for it. The 12279 5x8x24 would be my choice. The JBA is 29" long overall and the 12279 is 30". The 12579 is about 20% quieter than the 12279, and the length of the muffler won't change the performance.

I called Magnaflow yesterday and asked about the 12579. It has a split core and is intended as more of a factory muffler replacement. It would hamper performance. Then they told me about the 12279. I was able to get one for $79 shipped from Performance Peddler.

The 70 series flowmaster is also the same length and pipe diameter as the JBA
muffler. Was a direct replacement for me.
If you would like to hear how it sounds let me know,I'm in Gilbert.
Btw,I think I ran into you at Firebird last time I was out there.

I committed myself to the Magnaflow 24". I started thinking about the family road trips and realized that if I ended up getting a travel trailer the less drone, the better. I'd still like to hear your Flowmaster though. When were you at Firebird last?

Re: What muffler should I buy to replace my JBA?

Is this not covered under warranty?

I have a slightly used Volant 304 S/S muffler & y-pipe if anyone is interested. Make offers to my PM box if so.

Re: What muffler should I buy to replace my JBA?

What about a round/straight through magnaflow? - 12646 or 12616? (2.5 in/out) Only $70 on performance peddler. Depending on the length, I'd be willing to bet it has a deeper sound than the stock jba.

I'm putting 2 on my (07/08) stock mid pipes and having some custom tails fab'd...
