Has anybody changed or upgraded there stock cooling fan? Flexalite or gone to electric. I live in the desert so I dont want to go electric but any info from members that have upgraded the stock cooling fan or cooling fan configuration would be appreciated. Thanks.

yeah, i was wondering that myself - nothing worse than the big fan spooling up when you leave from sitting still for a few minutes on a hot day...
i have swapped over to a flex a lite on other vehicles that used large clunky clutch fans and never had any probs - the titan is a little more finicky than a mustang... however the aux electric fan mine has (BT 2WD) has never let the temp gauge budge from its normal resting spot.
I talked to flexilite a year ago about it, they said just send the deminsions and they can give you something in tolerance. Shure you will get some power back, I doubt if its NOT gonna work, but Its your ride, if you trust an electic fan then go for it, that means you have to actually look at the guages like some of us old farts dont do anymore. Fluidyne on the other hand may be interested in the radiator depending on how well the superseded one from Nissan works out.
I just don't see what there is to gain...Our mechanical clutch fan isn't "clunky", and mine (and many more) has stayed cool not matter what since day one!
Towing, uphill a/c on, it just flat keeps it's cool...
Why would you want to mess with that?

keep things cooler.. DUH!!!!: our trucks should run coolerthan what factory gives us. in Houston during the summertime a stock titan WITH the A/C on will usually hit 205-212* F without the A/C we can hit 195ish give or take 5*. there is an alternative though. get a nissan 300zx 170* thermostat and modify it and youll be running 190ish with a/c on ( give or take 5*). without the a/c youll get 180ish. having the e-fans will give us an advantage over our stock fans
I'm sorry, I had no idea...you seem to have some experience in this area, so what else do I need to know about the Titans cooling system other then it sucks?
Some day I plan on towing a trailer, so I don't want my Titan running too hot...

You can also gain some hp and torque from getting rid of the parasitic clutch fan. I've got some electric fans from a LS1 F-body on my Silverado and they make a big difference...

A cooler running engine isn't necessarily a better running engine. The hotter the combustion chamber is the better the mass burn percentage. Ten degrees + or - make can big a noted difference in efficiency and horsepower. If you are not having problems with pinging due to hot conditions then a lower temp thermostat is not something you should be playing with on a street truck. Engineers design engines to run at a certain temperature in order to hold tolerances in check. Pistons, rings, sleeves, and block material all expands and contracts at different rates. Engineers design these engines to hold tolerances with the different materials with differing coefficients of thermal expansion. I suggest you talk to an engine builder than deals with these engines before you start playing with engine operating temps.
As for the "parasitic clutch fan"... Performance difference is going to be minimal at best. Read this thread that discusses the E-Fan issue.
You whould need a really large efan to make it run cooler, possbibly a spacer too to create a better flow. Taking a load off the motor is what most ppl do this for. I bypassed the ac with a smaller belt, traveling 6 times to my local autozone to get one to fit right. I felt a differance, but no ac, thats not kewl. Once again, its your ride, fuses can blow, and so can relays. If you still look at your gauges all the time, then go for it. One of these things go bad and you dont notice it, well, rather burn fuel than parts i always say.
I'm running 2 electric fans that Comp Edge installed for me, I know the had to make some custom brackets for them but the sure make a big differance. I'll get the make and model for u guys that are interested

thats the only thing that worries me is a fuse going out and not noticing the fans going out...u just have to look at the gauges and cary some extra fuses just in case

Yeah, it happend to me, det happend when i excellerated on my hooptie s10. It didnt destroy the motor because I recognized the sounds of pachinko balls tapping on top of each other. I noticed I was over heating on the guage. Now I have some smoke comming out because of it. Even if you put a light indicater in line with the fan, it might just cut down your trusting of the fan down to 3/4s.

You can wire a small red LED on your dash warning you if the circuit blows.
