mbrp cat back question

Does anyone know if it replaces the factory y-pipe?

Re: mbrp cat back question

This picture shows it ending just ahead of the muffler.

If that's the system, then no, you need to use your factory Y-Pipe...

Funny, though... The '08 is a dual in, single out system... You're going to need a collector from your B-pipes to this setup... unless they supply that with the kit.

Re: mbrp cat back question

yeah doesn't make any sense, pictures don't accurately portray the product. I'm just going to weld my stock tailpipe back on then I guess. saved that $$$

Don't know where you live, but you're probably better off... That shiny chromed plating will look like CRAP in no time with the exhaust heat and Mother Nature and daily abuse.... I'd get a pure stainless or annodized system anyway....

Re: mbrp cat back question

upstate new york where the salt is heavy, and I take frequent short trips, so I'm an exhausts worst enemy. I was really interested at nismo or banks, but haven't decided to bite the bullet yet because mod money is the same as maintenance money and there's lights on in the dash.

Re: mbrp cat back question

The MBRP system does indeed replace the factory pipes up to the cat flanges. It has a Y that merges right into the muffler and right out to split back into 2. I like how the pipes look out back but hate the way they designed the system/muffler.

Re: mbrp cat back question

I was looking at the side exit system because I don't like the look of two tips out the back at all. Whats wrong with the muffler/system design?

Because it makes all of the exhaust flow into the muffler together and doesn't merge together as far upstream towards the cats as possible so there's more of a scavenging effect. The Y design they use looks like a generic typical stamped steel Y, not a smooth transition. It's still leaps and bounds better than a single in, dual out Flowmaster for sure.
