Does ram air work?

basically ive read mixed reviews about whether ram air is just a bunch of BS or if it really does work and add hp. im probably gonna get either the keystone good hood or the suncoast hood for looks if nothing else but if anyone can tell me if ram air is really a "worth it" mod then i'll make my hood functional as well. thanks

Re: Does ram air work?

Ram air works if you're looking to add a device that tweaks your performance. Ram air, however, won't give you performance like a true forced induction system would.

Personally I say go for it. It'll keep your engine temps cooler, give you actual cool air from the outside and it *can* drive up air pressure to your intake at high speeds. Plus - those hoods look freak'n sweet.

Mods: Bully Dog Tuner · 2* Timing Advance · AEM Brute Force · Burn-out Mod @ ECU · 18" Magnaflow
Nissan OEM Brush Guard · Hellwig Traction Springs · 4 Hella 500FF OR Lights
Line-X Bed Liner · Jason Topper · Nasta Nerf Bars

Wish List: Nitto Mud Grapplers · Rims

Waiting For Support On: TruTrac / PowerTrax

Re: Does ram air work?

Ram air's benefit of course is at higher speeds.

Re: Does ram air work?

yeah i love the look of those hoods too. im bout to lift my truck and throw on some 35's so im trying to squeeze every bit of power out of my engine to accomodate for the changes. already have cai, and jba ehaust and after the lift i hope to add nismo headers, TBS, and either a custom dyno tune or uprev (cant decide). hoping to at least achieve "stock like" feel to my performance.

The benefit you'd get is colder intake air temps. Your truck isn't really fast enough to actually benefit from any real RAM AIR effects I don't think.
