New JBA exhaust install

Nice!! Replaced stock exhaust on 2008.5 LE crew. If anyone is on the fence about getting this exhaust, just get it. You won't be disappointed.

Did you install it? If so, how difficult was it?

removing the stock exhaust is really the only pita. a sawzall can fix that any catback on a titan should be pretty straight forward as it's pretty open under there. some smaller or more cramped cars can be a different story, but the titan eh, few bolts and clamps and u should be good. I'd personally weld the pieces solid

I did have a problem on the stock exhaust. I get to the last nut on the cat and it dosen't won't to budge. I had sprayed pb blaster the night before, but it still wouldn't move. Sprayed it again and again. I ended up stripping the nut on the bolt. Went to Sears and bought a damaged bolt/nut remover set for $20. Finally it came off.
Also, on one end of the muffler it was bent a little where it connected to the next to last pipe. Did not know this untill I was trying to make the connection under the truck. So had to take the muffler back off and bend out the pipe with a pair of channel lock plyers. I guess it got bent during shipping.
Other than those two issues, everything went fine. It was worth the trouble. It's a nice sounding exhaust, not to loud, just enough. You can definitely tell the difference between it and stock. After you get it installed and crank it up for the first time, you are going to have a smile on your face.

Re: New JBA exhaust install

Good write up, I agree, the JBA is arguably one of the best performing exhausts for this truck, and just like you said, not too quiet not to loud. Of course, I've forgotten exactly what it sounded like normal, now I run the headers and no cats, so its a bit louder

Re: New JBA exhaust install

I have the JBA also, definitely not a difficult install. Just follow the instructions and it shouldn't take more than a couple hours. I didn't use PB-Blaster or anything, I just had to use 2 crescent wrenches one torque'ing the other one to get the stock crossover pipe and other pipe off of the midpipes. I TIG welded everything together from the crossover pipe back to the tip. Unfortunately one of my hangers developed a squeak that I have been having a real big problem fixing ever since...

Performance wise, definitely worth the money, as it is a cheap exhaust! I gained ~15HP and ~9ft*lb over just my Injen Intake from my JBA. Intake and JBA together I put down 287 HP and 342 ft*lb, without VVT.

Re: New JBA exhaust install

Do you have any annoying exhaust drone? I'm looking into getting an exhaust and have it narrowed down to either a JBA or Gibson.

The JBA does droan. I'm very picky about that, so I cut off 14" of the tailpipe and eliminated most of the droan. I have a thread on it here somewhere.

Re: New JBA exhaust install

It drones but not bad IMO, but of course, I am not picky about it. If you wanted, you could add another resonator, or add the Zoomers Cannon resonator exhaust tip if you did happy to be very picky. Its not nearly as bad as some other exhausts, but it is there. The Gibson is a very quiet exhaust, so maybe thats what you want? I was very close to getting a Gibson before I got my JBA

If there is some drone, it's minor because it dosen't bother me. I'm very happy with the sound, alot better than stock. Definitley worth the money. I got the JBA for $334 shipped from Autoanything and had it in a week.
I had narrowed it down to the JBA and the Banks. The Banks is louder and it's around $200 more. Two things I didn't want. Get the JBA.

Re: New JBA exhaust install

The JBA droned for me a bit that it annoyed me around 1900 RPMs or so, but now a couple months later I don't notice it at all

Yeah it's still at the shop. I talked to them at 4 and they were taking apart the rear axle to fix the rear axle seals. I should be getting it later. My guess is around 2 or 3 o'clock cause they're only open 1-8.

and I have a question for some of the heavy racing modders what should my next mod be?? My goal is to hit 14.5's. And to not take away from coolhub post any advice/opinions in this thread. Thanks
