Here's why you should not use plasti-dip! Lol. Anyone wanna buy a red alert bumper?
Why does a picture of this hood signify not using plastidip? O.o

Lmao, I edited the picture. I copied the wrong link on my photobucket.
Haha I figured as much, since I saw your pic in the other thread of your plastidip peeling. xD
I'm gonna plastidip mine and see how I like it when it warms up. If it doesn't meet my standards I'll just take it off and deal with the chrome lol

You should get it powder coated. The black on there looks great, but it doesn't take long to start chipping away. Probably wouldn't cost more than 50$ to have it powder coated.

The permanence of powder coating bothers me, though.. Like, I know it would look great, but I like the fact of when I go to sell the truck, it will still look stock after I take the plastidip off.

I went hardcore on putting around 8-10 heavy coats on mine...no peeling or chips here. Figured I wouldn't want to do it again so I just spent the extra time and coats to lay it on thick. I had that same problem of PC'ing mine and didn't want to regret having it permanent. Could always just put a lot on and give it a go, more plasti dip that's on there the better it will protect and hold as long as you do a good prep.

I put 6 coats on. Maybe I drive in a way more rocky area. It's also a bitçh to remove. Well at least mine is. Lol. I did my rear bumper red plasti-dip and so far it's held up for about 3 months.

Yeah dude, area you're in probably has something to do with it too. I'm just spit balling on my coats though. I went through a lot of cans, maybe got 2-3 coats out of one can for the front bumper.....I literally lost count after the first two hours. I just realized I don't want to do it again so I went all out the first time. I was probably more around 13 or so, but like I said I was putting it on really thick after the first three coats, just kept putting it on haha. I could not tell you how much I put on my roof, omg that took me forever but it was well worth it.

With that many coats, how was the color? Did it dull out or did it stay about the same shade of black as it normally is with 5-6 coats? I figured about 7-8 coats on my bumper and I'd probably do the same on the grille since I'd want it to look exactly the same.

Love your truck, man!
How long has that plastidip been on? Trying to get a general idea of how long it holds up normally

It was still black to me lol, been the same color since I put it on. I have an album under my name, if you want to view it or not. I have a few close-ups of my bumper and other items on the truck that I dipped.
