Here's a quick photo of the new addition to the family.

The Ody in the background is leaving us in a few days. Going to be picking up the trailer June 11th.

Loved the Ody! I actually waited 7 months for that one. First year made.

It was great for the family (3 young kids) when we had to haul around the cribs, strollers, etc. Now they are a little older so we can do with a little less interior space. Actually my parents are buying it, so it's still "in the family."

I towed a popup with the Ody, but it wouldn't tow a 24' trailer. So, Titan it is.

Thanks all for the compliments.

Wow, 7 months? I guess I was pretty lucky, I only waited 1 for mine. Traded mine for those same reasons as you sold yours. It was a very good vehicle for us. Not a single problem to complain about...well I guess gas milage could have been better. Makes me wish Honda came out with a real truck 1/2 ton, V8; I'd most likely buy it...unless it looks like that SUT/Avalanche V6 thing that's coming out next year, that looks like crap! Oh well, Enjoy that Titan!

I'll tell ya, my youngest son (3 1/2 y.o.) doesn't mind getting the Titan!!!

Every morning when he wakes up and realizes that I've gone to work with the truck, he gets all upset and says "Daddy took my Titan truck!" Now that's a kid with good taste.

As soon as I get home he can't wait to go for a ride. How can I blame him?

Odyssey vs Pilot vs Titan mpg

I been debating trading in our Pilot for an Odyssey.I like the Pilot, but for long trips with 2 big dogs(70 lbs greyhounds) and 3-4 adult sized people, the more roomy Odyssey would be better.
What sort of mileage did the Odyssey deliver? The Pilot gets 13.8-15 mpg city. The Titan gets about 12 city.On the hy the Titan got 19.3 at 73.The Pilot can get 22(at 55-60),but on our long trips at 75+ it got 16.6mpg (2981 miles 179.1 gals New Orleans to Flagstaff,AZ roundtrip) (with a roof basket that increases the effective frontal area by 20%).I'm not happy with the Pilots mpg considering the 17-22 epa rating.
If you don't mind, Let me know what your Ody did mpg wise? Thanks,Charlie

No problem. My Ody got around 20-22 all highway, probably averaging a little over 70 mph. City was around 15-17. I got around 14-16 towing a 2300# pop-up trailer (on relatively flat highways, a little less in the hills). The highway numbers are with 2 adults, 3 kids, stuff and a 90# Golden on board.

I'd have to say that if you have 3-4 adults, with the rear seat folded down, there's a ton of room for 2 dogs. Plus, there's much more headroom in the back, unlike an SUV that has a higher floor. We usually had the 3rd seat up and put the dog in the back well where the seat folds in. He loved it there.

If you don't need the higher ground clearance/AWD capacity, the Ody's a good choice.

EDIT: I just looked up the "official" MPG numbers, they say 18/25 for the Ody. That may be true considering they now have 5-spd trannys. Mine is a 4-spd.

Thanks-pretty decent mpg!

titanjbc,thanks-that is pretty decent mpg.
Wow,smoke certainly is the chameleon of colors-black in some light, green in other, grey in others. Very Nice looking truck,it has me rethinking my Brawn Red KC.
The extra foot of interior room the Odyssey has would be very nice.Twice a year,We drive non stop(except for dog walks, leg stretching, food, and gas) from New Orleans to Flag,AZ.The 1500 miles takes us about 25-26 hrs.I can just barely stretch out on a mat and sleep in the back with both rows down, but it is very close quarters, and the dogs sleep very "big"-they don't curl up like small dogs(guess Goldy R sleeps "big "also). If we didn't have a roof basket, our non stop trips would be impossibl(no room in the cabin)-one drives, one sleeps(one plays video games and occasionally takes a turn at the wheel-18 yo son).We could delete the roof basket, and the 15%(my guess) mpg penality,if we had an Odyssey.Hmmm.
What sort of traveler is the golden r?They are smart ,good natured dogs,so I bet they are good company.
Thanks,Charlie

My ody was getting 20-22 as well on the highway, but only ~16 mixed. Ok, but I wouldn't call it great considering some are getting 16 in the Titan. Mine was a 4spd too. Other than that it was a great car. Regarding your space issue, aren't the Pilot and the Ody built on the same platform? Space should be similar should't it? Not too sure though, I haven't really looked into the Pilots interior layout. But the rear sliding doors are great in parking lots! I wish all the cars had them!

Jack (the Golden) is pretty laid back, holds down the floor quite a bit. He's very good natured, almost never barks (good for car rides and at the campground), great with kids.

Thanks, going to try to improve Pilot mpg.

Thanks,Titanjbc, and SarKazm.I thought that might be the case with your GR-sweet,smart dogs!
SarKaZm,20-22 isn't bad,but not great either. The Pilot is based on the Odyssey, but it is almost exactly 12" shorter;those 12" would come in handy.
I'm going to dump the roof basket for the next trip(or put a bigger faring in front of it).I'll use the swing out 4 bike hich mounted carrier as a bike, and luggage carrier,by suspending a big plastic bin from the front to bike positions. It will look kinda funny, but it should get better mpg than having it sit up in the wind.By my crude calculations the overfilled roof basket increases the frontal area by 3 sq ft.The Pilot is about 30 sq ft,with a drag coef of ~.4-making the effective frontal area~12 sq ft+3 from the roof basket(it must have a drag of~ 1-).With luck, the 20% drop in drag will increase the mpg by 10-15%.Heck,I would be happy with 1/2 mpg to get my trip average to 17mpg.Thanks,Charlie
