The Budget Titan Project......

Hey first I'd like to say thanks for stopping by my thread. I'm going to post here and show you the cheapest way to hook up your titan, or rather what I'm going to do and if you feel like doing the same feel free.

Let me give you the back round on my titan. Its a 04 4x4 with 55k miles on it. Picked it up from a dealership for 15,500 out the door. Took me a full 9hrs but I got the deal. Here is a pick the day I got it. I live in CT, more in the city than anything. So a 6" lift wouldnt really fit my needs. I was looking for around a 4" lift. I'll go on more about that in a min.

Now the modding bug has started and I'll have the truck I want by around late nov maybe sooner.

O.k so after having the truck for about two days I couldnt leave it stock at all. I been a member on this site since 08 because well I have always liked the titans but never really pulled the trigger on one. I was in CA when I was in the marines and now back to CT. Anyways I looked around to see my options and like most people I'm on a budget and want something nice.

Lets start off with a lift. I got the Rough Country 3" lift for 240 shipped w/ rear blocks. ( Ebay ) Than I did alittle reading and asking a few questions and wanted shocks. I like most people who come here saw the price of shockwharehouse and jumpt on that but by the next day I canceled because I didnt want to wait till they got around to shipping it, but I did use there price so another store who did have them in stock would match it or beat it. So.

How she sits now. I forgot to mention that I picked up sidesteps and a bullbar from a store off ebay. I found a store that had fitment issues. Asking why right? Well because I had all ready known before even placing my order that I was going to complain about the fitment to get cheaper prices on there other items. I got the sidesteps for 80 bucks shipped NEW and bull bar for 60 shipped NEW. The same company also sells Fog lights for the bull bar as well as the rear cover for the bed. So thats next on the list. I'll keep you updated with pics and information as I get it. I wont post the names of the stores till after I ordered everything I needed from them in case someone online feels the need to email the company or call them and let them know whats up.

At the moment I'm waiting on my tires to come in the mail to my local tire shop. (Kumho Road Venture MT KL71 315/70/17 ) Again I tried to find the cheapest place online. At the moment tirerack has them for sale 4 for 860 w/o shipping. So when I went to my local tire shop I showed them the price and they did 940 with balancing and mounting and a alignment.

My goal is to do it all as cheap as possible. After the tires I'll be on my hunt for a cat back.

I forgot to add I got PRG endlinks on the way as well and paid what they were going for. The guy does alot for the site so didnt feel like working him

You will want to get that exhaust fixed soon. Its not good that its blowing into the truck bed. There have been other members whose exhaust ends up like that (due to the hanger rusting and the pipe falling off) and it has damaged/melted their tailights/shock boots/ other parts and an expensive harness that will cause all sort of lights to light up in the cluster.

Re: The Budget Titan Project......

Do you have coil bucket contact after all? What is your measurement in the front from center of wheel on ground to middle of fender?

Fast update: 8/26

Just ordered a catback for 300 shipped off ebay. That should be in the mail the next few days so ill let you know how it sounds and maybe post a clip

Also I'm not getting any contact at all and the truck has been riding really smooth. At this point I wish I put it on the top notch for a little more height.
Still waiting on my tires and its been 2 weeks now. 2 weeks waiting for them to come in the mail

Re: The Budget Titan Project......

The spacer was only 1.5" so I'm going to guess 2"

Also next on the list for the budget titan will be the ebay intake "bully" intake

Re: The Budget Titan Project......

Nice truck man I like the stance on it. Did you replace the rear diff cover? The 04 titans didn't have that cover from the factory or if you bought the T used it's a possibility that the rear diff was replaced as many 04s had diff problems. Anyway nice truck and continue with the mods

Re: The Budget Titan Project......

Went today to get them installed and well with my stock rims it wont work. So I had to order some 17" KMC Hoss with a -12 off set... I installed the Catback today that I ordered off Ebay sounds and looks really good.

As for intake, I was going to order it but than this whole rim thing came up so I have to wait..
