Vegas Offroad!!!!

So, couldn't find anyone to wheel with after the rains to look for mud. I decide to hit a local wheelers favorite..."Potato Ridge" or now renamed "Rocky Road". this trail starts at the Red Rock scenic loop at Willow Springs. While airing down my tires i see 2 Jeep Rubicons exiting through the entrance. They say that parts of the trail have been washed out and are "impassable"! Also, a ranger said that a dodge ram had to be winched out that morning. With that information i really wanted to go. I air down tires to 15psi. I realize that i had no winch hooked up this day and forgot my hilift jack at home. Crossing fingers we enter. Trail seemed alot tighter now since i first did it a few years ago with my Las Vegas Xterra Club. The foliage and weather was nice. It did start to get very technical and if i didn't have my rock sliders i would have jacked up my lower body pretty good. Here are the pics....The supergnarly parts, i opted to just get through than jump out and take pics. some points of the trail my heart was racing. I was determind not to get stuck and be the first of the day to complete the trail. It was definetly the best trail i did so far. After 2.5 hours we complete the trail. I was so excited i race through lovell canyon trail topping out 98mph(speedometer) on some stretches. My Son, friend and i had a blast!

After I stop at the end of the trail to air up, and the dust settles. I see sh!tload of flashing lights apppear! A ranger gets out and starts screaming at me, asking if i have any weapons, to stay in my vehicle. Totally surprised and clueless, he then sez he had been chasing me for about 8 miles. DAMN!!!!!!! i told him i had no clue and never saw him in my mirrors(cuz he was eating my dust ) after running my info he was much cooler and kept laughing with officer he was having lunch with when i zoomed by them on the trail. I think all and all he had fun trying to catch me. He gave me a reckless driving ticket for $275.

Oh well, would've been cool to be a bystander to see it all happening. I was carving up the desert pretty hard and getting decent air a few times. That trail was my Rubicon for the day. If anyone is sceptical of its worthiness I will gladly do it again with ya!!! I will remember this day as "ODE TO DUKES OF HAZZARD!"

WISH SOME VEGAS TITANS COULDA WENT!!! BEST TRAILS ARE UNPLANNED!!!!

ENJOY PICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Vegas Offroad!!!!

Unless its a private road, he shouldnt have the authority. I know out here in henderson, if your on BLM land you can get a ticket, but red rock isnt BLM, is it?
