Lights and more

With the 1000 next week I finally got off my a** and got the lights and race radio on the truck. Added some vertical bars to the bumper as well.

I used the factory fog light wiring and switch so it was super easy to setup the lights.

The bulk of the radio mounts under the seat, only the faceplate is on the dash so it reduced a lot of clutter.

Silverstar lowbeams

Lowbeams and Pro Comp lights

Lowbeams are the white light on the outside. PC lights are in the middle

Re: Lights and more

Who's watching the road when you have to look at all the gadgets on your dash? Lights look good, the bars with no lights look kinda "empty" somehow.

Re: Lights and more

The passenger usually keeps an eye on the telemetry and works the radio actually.

Re: Lights and more

Did you get the radio because you'll be chasing for someone at Baja or just to hear what's going on w/ the teams running?

New lights and bars look good btw.

Re: Lights and more

Nope, I was in an extreme time crunch, the PC lights were available and at a decent price so I just grabbed em.

That truck will never race baja, but goes there a lot. Although in a year or two I may race it in my Ranger.

I spliced two lights together on one fog light wire set. I did change fuses or do anything other than extend wires.

what size of fuse did you replace it with?

what is the grand prize for the category you would be running in the ranger?
or is it most for pride and joy that people reced @ baja... maybe one off this years Ill tricked my wife to go on vacation to cabo during baja races

Re: Lights and more

Meant to say I did not change fuses or anything else. The lights only draw 4.6 amps each.

The overall winner of the Baja 1000 this week will likely be in a vehicle that costs $500,000-1,000,000 and probably spend $100,000-200,000 on race expenses. They win about $5,000. Nobody does it for the money.

If you went to cabo you would miss the race. Every few years to 1000 goes to La Paz which is north of cabo. Ensenada or Felipe is the place to go to watch the races.
