Titan Holiday Road Trip Pic-Guess the place

We just did two 1500 mile road trips in the Titan, round trip from Sacramento to San Diego, for Thanksgiving and Christmas. We had to show off our new baby to pretty much everyone we know in California. The Titan proved to be a great truck for long trips. I snapped these pics along the way. Just for fun, who can name the place?

Re: Titan Holiday Road Trip Pic-Guess the place

One close guess so far. Here's another pic, this one should be a dead giveaway. All 3 pics were taken from the same spot.

Re: Titan Holiday Road Trip Pic-Guess the place

Gaviota Beach, north of Santa Barbara. 101 curving north/south.

I didn't see Spody's answer...till I typed the above....this is the only place I know of where 101 cuts inland from the coast.

But, considering where Spody is from...that's a heck of a guess!

Re: Titan Holiday Road Trip Pic-Guess the place

bestatchess has the best guess so far. That is Arco Island and Rincon Point (the oil piers will never be forgotten!!) in the 3rd pic, but I'm looking for something else. The specific spot where I parked is known as.....??? BKW had a good guess too, didn't you recognize the Gaviota rest area in someone else's post?

Ahem,
You didn't bring it by my house to show it to me, but I would guess that pic was taken at Santa Clause Lane, just south of Santa Barbara.

No, I looked at the pics first, and recognized where 101 turns north to Buellton. I only backed up later and looked at the ref Spody made. Then I made the comment about someone being from Alberta, and recognizing the location.

I've dived the area, been to Gaviota Beach. Offshore of the Honda..Devils Jaw (N. of Point Conception), is where there are two sunken coastal liners, the Yankee Blade, and the 7 US Navy Destroyers that ran aground on 8 September 1923. This spot can only be accessed by boat, as the land is controlled by Vandenberg AFB.

Off San Miguel Island is the remains of the Chickasaw.

Those oil derricks were shelled by a Japanese submarine in 2/1942.

I read thru these posts again...I thought I knew the CA coast, now I'm not too sure.

Re: Titan Holiday Road Trip Pic-Guess the place

Some good guesses here.
BKW- You're too far north
walleeme- You're just a little too far north, very good guess but you can't see Arco Island and Rincon from there.
I haven't even heard the name of the city yet.
The name of the city is part of what I'm looking for. Where are the Ventura and Santa Barbara Titan owners?

Sorry, driving goolemaps. Then I would then have to guess Refugio Beach state park, with the point in the left being El Capitan Beach state park.
