Looks like a great time was had by all. How often to you go out like this? Seems pretty often.

BTW: How much does your buddy have in the white ranger?

Re: East side dirt trip pics

Depends, went out 3 times in the last 8 days but usually try to get out once a month.

Not sure on the total he has in it. But I would guess around 10-15k. Pretty basic truck, burg beams, deaver pack, engine, bed and cab cage and 2.5s and bumps.

^^^ That's got me thinkin now. Wonder if it would be cheaper to build a ranger after all. Maybe a tacoma would be a better idea...

Re: East side dirt trip pics

Generally

Ibeam trucks cost less to build and have more travel. Arm trucks cost more and have cleaner and less travel. Both are good.

But whick would be cheaper in the long run? Which generally breaks less? Which is cheaper to fix when it does break?

Re: East side dirt trip pics

that all depends on the quality of the parts and labor.

Re: East side dirt trip pics

OK, let's say, for example, two trucks, one ranger beam truck and a tacoma. $8000 budget after vehicle purchase. Which would be a better buy with equal $ thrown at them? If you can't tell, I'm trying to decide between the two for a project truck after I sell my Z. I would like to stay import, but if it's going to be significantly cheaper and easier to buy the ranger then that's the route I'll go. All labor done by myself.

Re: East side dirt trip pics

Doing right requires building an engine cage and lots of other fab work. Are you going to do that yourself?

There is no better, booth are good with pros and cons. I am partial to beam trucks myself.

That's why it's gonna be a project. Gonna do 99% of the work myself in the garage. I would expect the beam trucks to be easier to work on though. Less parts to break and simpler.
