Just waxed and used a clay bar for the first time! WOW

Like the title says, I first washed the truck with dish detergent soap, dryed it off, used Mothers Clay Bar all over & then used Zymol wax.

If you have had your truck for a few years & not clay barred yet, do it now. It made my truck as smooth as a baby's butt and looks like the day I brought her home and she is 3 years old on the 17th.

btw, yesterday I cleaned my wifes car & then did all of this....I am now officialy retired!

I'll agree the clay bar does make your finish feel smooth. It is a lot of work so after doing 2 vehicles I’ll bet you tires. Your truck looks nice and clean!

Re: Just waxed and used a clay bar for the first time! WOW

Never used a clay bar. What is the process? Is the clay bar dried hard or soft like putty? Do you use a polish or water between the bar and how exactly does the bar help get rid of swirl marks?

Re: Just waxed and used a clay bar for the first time! WOW

Love the clay bar! Just alot of work but well worth it. I was doing some painting one day on a trailer and the wind was very calm. 4 weeks later I had the truck detailed and he used the clay bar on it. He asked me if I was around paint because the clay bar was getting all red. I told him yea but the truck was parked 200 feet away from where I was painting. I had no idea that it even got paint on it. It sure as heck didnt look like it had it on it. But the clay bar knew and shined it up real good to boot.

Re: Just waxed and used a clay bar for the first time! WOW

Thanks for the compliments guys, I am in full recovery today and might just do the wifes car soon.

Toomnymods, we have met my friend. My truck just looks a little different than at the dyno meet. As for the emblems, I used a blow dryer to heat the glue up (or let it set in the hot sun all day) and used fishing wire. Works like a charm.

Nice job and I agree. Even when new I had crap stuck in the clear coat that felt like sandpaper after washing.

My shoulder hurts just looking at your truck.
