Re: FourDoor's Black Pro-4X

The truck hasn't hit the dirt/dunes yet. I will soon though when I find some more free time and can tag along with some other friends who have 4x4s.

As far as mods, here is a rough timeline of what I am planning:

Next 1-2 months:
- 2* Timing advance
- Bakflip Tonneau
- Powedercoat skid plates
Custom Body work:
-- Custom upper front grill.
-- Custom front bumper lip.
-- Blacked out emblems
-- Blacked out headlights (still deciding if I buy the pre painted blacked out ones for the 07s or crack my brand new 08s open and repaint)
-- Debadge the rear and paint the rear tailgate emblem area to Galaxy Black
-- Paint BT mirrors Galaxy Black
---My old custom body shop contacts are gone now so I am looking for a new shop that can do high quality custom work for me. I'm still looking… I’ve been working on a new grill design that uses the 08 grill lines but will require some work to get it fabricated.
-- So if all goes well, in 2 months, my truck will be fully blacked out from the outside.

Next 2-3 months:
- Install sound system
-- New head unit. I’m probably gonna stick with the Avic D3 for now but I really want to see what the D4 will look like at CES this year. I’m keeping my options open but I really need a good NAV system with great iPod integration as I have a couple hundred gigs of music that I maintain daily.
-- 2 10" sub and a 500.2 or 500.1 amp. Still don't know which sub amp combo to go with for the Titan. I am looking for sharp and clean bass.
-- Tech12 custom enclosure for the 2 10" and the amp.
--- I'm pretty picky about my sound system install but have been out of it for several years and need to do my research. I want a very clean install from the power connection at the battery all the way down to where the amps and subs are situated so this will take me some time to do. And of course this all depends on whether metra comes out with an 08 dash kit for us soon as glassing the stock bezel is going to cost me more in labor than I though.

Next 6-12months:
- Performance mods time
-- CAI (not sure which ones yet)
-- Exhaust (not sure which one yet either as I want an exhaust that will actually give me an hp boost as opposed to just giving me a loud exhaust)
-- UpRev (hopefully will be out by then)
--- Of all the different mods, UpRev is what I am most excited about and can’t wait to install when available. Heck, I may be the first one out there to install UpRev on a completely stock Titan. LOL

After 1year:
- Suspension mods
-- Probably gonna go with the ProComp 6” lift, but I’ve been debating if I should go with the 3” mini lift in the meantime. Depending on what place I end up getting in southern California in the next couple of months will let me know how tall a lift I can go so I can fit the truck in the garage if we get one.
-- I’m still looking for wheels. I haven’t made my final choice in wheels/tires yet. 20” is probably want I’m going to go for as I’ll be on the street more than on the dirt.

Well that should give you and me an idea of what I have planned for the truck. So far it’s all been cosmetic stuff done to the truck the first month I owned it:
- Tinted windows
- Running Boards
- Painted black wheels
- HID lowbeams/foglights

Re: FourDoor's Black Pro-4X

Nice man!
Can't wait to see all your progress. I'm putting in a AEM Brute Force CAI on friday so I will let you know how that goes. From reading on here it should be sick though. . If you want sub ideas w/ clean sharp base made for small box enclosures try kicker solo baric L7. Two 10" in this truck should be way more than enough

Re: FourDoor's Black Pro-4X

Looks really good. Did you paint the rims yourself or get it done somewhere?

These were painted. Thread on the wheels here:

Painted Pro4X Wheels

So far the wheels have held up fine. Brake dust makes the inside of the wheels look more dull when they're dirty but overall they still look nice and black. No chips, cracks, or scratches.

People seam to be really surprised when I tell them that they are spray painted wheels. Most people think they came black from the factory.

That would be sweet. Do people seem to like your rims better now that they're black.

I'm still debating on going black. The wifey's giving me a really hard time too. She does'nt like black rims for some reason. Women.....

Re: FourDoor's Black Pro-4X

Go black. Enough said.

My friends that had seen the truck when I first bought it definitely like the black rims better. Some, not so big car/truck people, do a double take when I tell them that I painted the wheels even after they had already seen the truck previously with the alloy colored wheels. They all have given me the I thought it was factory reaction.

That was kind of the look/reaction I was going for. An OEM look that would set me apart from the other stock Titans on the road.

I can't afford new wheels and tires right now as I want to do the whole lift, wheels, tires all at the same time. Ideally I would be on 20" wheels with either 34 or 35" tires with a 4" or 6" lift right now, but that will all have to wait. Saving up to purchase a new place with the girlfriend next year is pushing out my modding plans for the truck. With my previous vehicle, I used to change my rims/tires every year to year and a half. But every so often, I would throw on OEM wheels to change things up. Truck tires/wheels are a little more expensive this time around so we’ll see how this goes.

I just washed the truck over the holiday and took some cleaner pictures of the wheels and truck. I'll try to post them tonight when I can.

Re: FourDoor's Black Pro-4X

All this wheel talk brings me to a question...
I have the 7 spoke OR wheels on my 06. Have they retired the
7 spoke wheel for 08? I haven't seen the 7 spoke wheel on any
08's.
Thanks

Yes they have, the wheels I have are the new "offroad" wheels.
