Why was it in the shop for so long? I'm only asking because I'm seeing if you have an issue I should watch for...

Nothing serious, just a few boo-boo's. 1 was on my be half...
at first I took her in just for a regular tune-up for some new spark plugs, oil change in the motors and yada yada yada... I was busy at work so it took me 2 weeks to pick it up after a simple overnight stay at the shop.
go her back on a friday and took her out saturday morning. get in the channel and idle out to the regular operating speed sign and I open her up to feel the wind. I kinda sat down the the seat and was crusing for a good 4-5 minutes when the damn thing just lost almost all power. 1 engine was shut down and the other was struggling to move water through the pump. SO I limped it in mad as all hell cause I had chicks on board and a case of beer!
So i get it to the shop and explain the problem. few days later I get a phone call saying my intake were ruined thanks to a large plastic bag that has some kind of wire inside it...$1000 later she was fixed, the long part was waiting for the new parts to arrive. I guess it pretty hard to screw them up, but I got the perfect combo of going fast and the right piece to fly into the system and chew it all up. I got the parts that was ruined and its amazing what happened to it. basically my propellers that are up inside the jets were almost gone. that little steel wire chewed them to all hell and back...

Wow, that sucks...talk about bad luck...
I can't believe you brought it in for the maintenance. I brought it in for the 10 hour service, which is basically an oil change and they charged me $600. I do all the maintenance now, it's really not that hard.

one time at band camp....
Something similar happened to me. We were heading out on a great morning and just as I am getting out of the channel and heading out to the Stiltsville cut my HOT ENGINE alarm goes off. It's is not a sound you want to hear in a single engine boat out in the middle of Biscayne Bay. Immediately I throttle back to neutral and check the engine. An F'n Publix bag draped around the from of the engines lower unit covering the water (cooling) intake ports. WTF grrrr. Got the bag off and we had to sit there for about 30 min to let the engine cool off. I'm sure I missed a huge Dolphin while sitting there thanks to someone else's carelessness.
Seconded. I've sucked up a Publix bag before as well. When I'm driving through the narrower portions of the intracoastal around the Boca/Delray areas it's like an obsticle course dodging everything from coconuts to garbage. It's much better north of Boynton though where it gets much wider.
Do you have problems getting up the ramp? I'm looking at a couple of boats in that size range and I'm worried that my 4X2 will have traction problems on a wet ramp.
I have a 21' Chris Craft Cuddy with a 350, not exactly light, and have thought I was going to get stuck more than a few times. I always spin my way up the ramp, darned one wheel peel. I need to get a tru trac. Pictures to come, havent been to the lake yet this year...
