cowl mounted Hella 500s

so the other day i was messing with my cowl and broke two mounting clips. one of the white plastic "plugs" and the other the whole mount that the plastic plugs slides into. anyways long story short i couldnt have the top corners of my cowl flapping around in the wind, so i decided to go oldschool Ivan "ironman" stewart toyota style and mounted a hella500 on each corner.
i think they look alright. because of the angle of the cowl the lights point out towards the side, but with the four ill have aimed directly in front it should give a wide light pattern.

Re: cowl mounted Hella 500s

very interesting mounting position... hopefully they hold up well against speed, crosswinds, bumps, etc...

Re: cowl mounted Hella 500s

Nice Idea, looks good too.

I'm sure that doesn't help with the already brutal blind spot that's created by the a-pillar though.

Re: cowl mounted Hella 500s

so far the wind hasnt blown them to the side or anything. havent been on the highway though, but about 65-70 in town. as for the blindspot - it does add to it, but in my opinion not so much to really worry about. still need to run the wires up there - they used to be on the front so i need extensions put on so i can use em.

I think it looks good, paying respect to Ivan is a good thing!
I am a little concerned about those lights mounting in the plastic base...

yes. the very top/outer plastic clip has been removed and the square hole in the firewall was threaded to hold the mounting bolt. so far, several trips on the interstate havent moved them.

paint the hood the match the faded cowl? yeah i hate how it faded so fast
