Re: trying to black out tail lights with VHT progress pics!!

id say hit them with 1000 or 1500grit wet sandpaper..

I was going to redo my lights but im swapping with another member that is getting rid of his truck instead.

i used 800 grit to prep the lights to get the vht to stick. then after painting (2 coats vht, 2 coats clear), i wetsanded them with 1500 first, then 2000 grit. polished with Meguiars Plastx after.

too bad tint doesn't stick and you have to use vinyl.

and i called like 5 shops within like 50 miles of me and they were all the exact same price to do all the lights, some would only do the tails, for 300 BUCKS!!

f that!

just like he said 12 bucks for VHT, 6 bucks for clear and a few bucks for sandpaper. right around 25 bucks and my **** looks baller!! i get more compliments on the tail lights then anything else.

you gotta ruff the lights to get it to stick ** important not too use more coarse then 800 or the scratches will show through the VHT**

then apply 2-3 coats and wetsand

last, apply a couple coats of clear and buff it.
