What would my symptoms be if...

My transmission fluid was low? I have done search after search but I really dont know how to describe this problem. I apologize in advance if this has been discussed. But if you all could just give a short description of what might happen if my fluid was low.

Thank you =)

In extreme cases, your truck would stop moving. Why not just check your fluid level rather than speculate?

I've read the posts about voiding the warranty and in the most extreme case I dont this retarded dealership calling me out on any warranty issues. Thanks for the reply bestatchess...Tell me what you think...

The issue:

After accelleration and coming to a complete stop (stop sign, red light), upon pressing the gas pedal again, the engine will occasionally rev up and the vehicle will not move. It takes 1-5 seconds for it to catch sometimes and I never let it rev up too high. Sounds like a fluid problem but wanted some opinions before I guessed.

Thanks again

You don't void the warranty just by checking the fluid. You have to loosen a nut and turn the little gage deal around to check the fluid, with the engine running. It describes the details in the service manual. You may want to just take it to the dealer as if the fluid is low, it must be replaced with Nissan Matic J ATF. So you would need to get that from the dealer in any event.

With the problem you are experiencing, I would definitely take it to the dealer. It sounds like it could be fluid, but maybe it is a computer problem, or someting else. Also, you would want to document the problem in the dealer service records in case of future problems of this nature.

Made an appointment for tomorrow morning and now I'll know to document this problem in their service records. Thanks for the advice!

I had a similar problem in my Oldsmobile a few years ago. Turns out the trans. was slipping- a problem with the transfer case or something as I recall....

LordReed,

Nissan trannies will exhibit a symptom where they won't 'hook up' coming off a partial stop. This is probably the biggest symptom of the trans fluid being low, other than a higher than normal temp reading on your gauge if you have the big tow package.

It will feel like you hit a slick spot on the street: Rolling up to a stop sign, you're mostly stopped, but you see the way is clear and so you stab the gas. You get nothing for a second and suddenly, BAM!! you go. The movement will be pretty violent if you're low on fluid. This reverse/forward load on the torque converter is probably the best way to notice if you're low.

Hope this helps you.

Sounds like low fluid. That is what my tranny did when it blew a cooler line and dumped all its fluid. So what did the dealer find? Any word?
