Overhead Console issue

Thought that I was alone in this issue. I too noticed that my overhead console in the first flip down compartment is cracked and broken at the screw. I brought this issue to my dealer and it is covered under warranty. They have to replace the entire console which according to the service department guys is noted as a map light console in the computers with Nissan. Good to know that Nissan takes care of it's people.

I took in my Titan to the dealer for the oil change. I showed them the cracked console, within 4 days the got the part in and replaced it.

They are a pretty good service deparment, what helps is that the Service Manager also purchased a Titan. So he will be experiencing the same problems.

While I was there, I took a look at the pricing for these parts.
The Entire overhead Console, including the map lights (but not the back DVD/Radio Console) is $189.00.

The price for the a Utility Bin (the part that folds down, it's like a box), is about $26.00.

JoeyCrack - it might have been me who pointed that out in another thread. My overhead console is going to be replaced when they can get a new unit in.

Good luck all!

Replacement Overhead Console Cracked

My cracked overhead console was replaced within the last couple of months. I noticed yesterday that the same spot around the front mounting bolt has many cracks again... I wonder if the plastic material is prone to cracking or the mechanic simply overtightened the bolt again...

Found mine cracked around the front bolt, the very first week. Dealer ordered a new one (took a week to come in). Was replaced the following week.

Mine was cracked from day one - in the sunglass holder.

Replacement #1 - broken in shipment

#2 - broken during install

#3 - BOYS ! STEP AWAY FROM THE CONSOLE- PUT IT IN THE BACK SEAT! HERE -EAT THESE DOUGHNUTS.

It helps if you put some white grease on the 4 spring tabs, make sure they're in the slots and push up slowly and firmly until they snap in-they need to pop/snap in. Put a dab of clear silicone over the 6 screw holes and finger tight them screws in- that's it - just finger tight.

Ever had the sunglass console get stuck?

When you push it up, it just clicks and does not come down, so you have to push your finger in and pull it firmly down...so this make it feel like you are certainly going to break something.

I don't believe my sunglasses cause the problem.
