Dealership Oil Changes

Took advantage of my free oil change today at the dealership. 1500 miles. I can't remember the last time I took a vehicle to a dealership for nothing but an oil change. If any of you are using your free oil changes or do it consistently at the dealership, please take my advice and check behind them. I checked my oil when I got home from work and it was over a quart low! Well below the "low" mark. Adding one quart brought it back within range, but still not even halfway between H and L. Evidently, my service tech can't count or needs new glasses.

Please check behind your service techs.

My salesman threw it in during negotiations. I believe some of the guys on the board have free lifetime oil changes.

I went for a dealer oil change a few weeks ago (in addition to having them disable my auto seats, and checking my steering wheel for straightness). The receipt stated that I was charged for 5 quarts of oil instead of the 6.5 quarts that I was expecting. I then checked the oil three times, once when cold, once when hot, and once like the manual says. Fortunately they were all within the L and H marks. So I guess I lucked out this time. But I still plan to do my own oil changes from now on.

I checked my receipt and it also said 5 quarts but they also added some additives (it should show on your receipt too) and that should make up the difference. Also, fwiw, my dealer used Exxon oil.

I got an oil change-free-card after I ask for it during negotiation, which is common, but at the end of the purchase transaction, my dealer/sales person, was showing me the survey, and that is really important for the dealer that I mark everything as excellent and completly satisfied customer, bla bla... well, I said, as soon as I get the survey I will bring it you and exchange it for an oil-free-card... and that is how I got my second free oil change
Yes, I did filled it up, and added and excellent comment for them to read, if they wanted, very happy with my purchase, beautiful truck.

I got one of those free oil change vouchers too. My dealer is 50 miles away, so I doubt I will let them touch it again unless something's wrong.

new titans

you guys with low miles on your trucks, i buy four large magnments from Radio shack and stick them to the bottom of the oil pan, this controls movement of metal particles. one other thing, i never let anyone change my fluids but me, the free oil changes mean nothing to me. i like the satisfaction of knowing what's in it, how much is in it, and how things are put back when finished. i even change my own rearend gear oil.

That is more information than we need to know. Keep those types of things to yourself in the future please.

After the initial break-in most of the metal particles are non-ferrous. If you believe in the magnet thing, you can get some really strong magnets from http://www.allcorp.com/ that would have a better chance of creating an effective magnetic field through the oil pan. I have seen guys build motors that used to glue them inside the pan. And you should probably be careful where you put them so you aren't concentrating iron filings under the sump pickup.

dents with my oil change

I took mine in for the first oil change. When they shut the hood the push down on the hood leaving several small dents. What a way to start. The service center was closed when I picked the truck up. Cannot wait to see what the service manager does.

Just got mine done around 1300 miles. Asked the tech and he said it took 6.5 quarts. The bill said 6. Oh well, it was free. Now at 4k I can put my synth in.

Anyone know if Walmart or Target has oil filters for the Titan yet? I assume they're the same as the Armada?

Not the walmart around my area. Maybe in other places though.

I changed my oil & filter yesterday. I warmed it up and let it drain a long time. It took 7 quarts to get it halfway between L & H. It would probably take another quart except that the filter is about the size of a thimble.
