NAV system

Has anyone had any problems with their navigation system? I live in Ft. Smith, AR and we drove the titan to visit family in MS. On the way back I noticed the display was frozen. It was no longer tracking my progress on the map. I ejected the dvd-rom and put it back in. When the display came back up it said the dvd was the wrong version. I was unable to get it working again for the rest of the trip.

Oddly enough when I got back in it the next morning, it was working fine and I haven't had any problems since then. The only thing I can think of was I took a different route than what it had planned and it had to do some auto re-routing. The problem with that theory is that when it froze up, I was on the road it had planned for me to follow.

I had that happen once and as soon as I turned the truck off and back on it was fine. I didn't take the DVD out first however.

I am currently waiting for a new DVD player since I am now always getting "Bad DVD" instead of a map. The service technicians automatically ordered one for me when they saw that the other day. It seems as if it will work a few times and then won't for a few times and then repeats the sequence.

I have taken the DVD out, cleaned it and everything but it still is not working correctly.

Very frustrating.

At the time that you had problems, was your truck sitting in the sun? I haven't had the problem in my Titan yet but my Odyssey tends to not recoginize that a disk is in the NAV unit when the interior temp is on the higher side. After letting the interior cool down it usually starts to work again.

If that question was directed to me, no it happens whether the truck was in the garage overnight or in a parking lot during the day. Right now all I get is DVD Error and removing / reinserting the DVD does not fix the problem.

I have also had them try a different working CD from a different Titan they had on the lot with the same results. That is why they ordered me a new DVD unit.

When it happend to me, I was driving back home and was about 6 hours into my 8 hour drive. I had the windows up and the air on so it was not hot inside the truck. The dvd-rom drive may have gotten hot from being on that long but I didn't check it.

The question was for either of you. Thanks for the feedback. I was curious if the Nissan systems were heat sensitive as well.

Does anyone know where and when an updated DVD will be out? I have noticed that many new roads do not show up. I have also noticed that many business are not in the database. I have only had my Titan a month and would think the map software would be more up to date. My handheld seems to be far ahead.

Also, how much do the DVD's cost?

I was told that they will be releasing a new DVD sometime around November this year. The cost is $185.

If you look at the manual, their website is listed in there somewhere. I had the link but cannot find it right now.
