Musty smell coming from the drivers door

A couple months ago I rode in my buddies 04 "t" cc and it had a horable musty smell that he claimed was due to water getting in his driver door and sitting. he has 48 miles on his truck so I assumed it was moisture getting in his truck and sitting due to the lack of use. Last week I was driving my 04 "t" cc and smelt the same smell coming from my driver door. With the window down I can put my nose by the window weather stripping and It smells horable, anyone delt with this and what did you do?

Probably just have to take off the door panel (I think theirs plastic behind it as well, can't remember), remove the plastic, and see how much of the inside of the door you can wipe down with a clorox/water solution.
Maybe buy one of those moisture/odor absorbing bags and secure in the door.

Do you know if this is a common thing with the titan / nissans, another buddy of mine has the same thing happening to his frontier? thanks I'll try to wipe it down this weekend.

idk if we are in the same boat or smelling the same thing, but sometimes I when i start my truck I get the nastiest smell ever. i dont know where it comes from but it F.cking smells horrible! then after i turn the air on and force fresh air through and roll down the windows it goes away. any ideas?

I started spraying a lot of cologne while I'm in the truck driving but now my wife thinks I'm cheeting on her.

Look under the door, there's a couple of drain holes that's probably clogged.
Use a coat hanger (metal) or anything small and clear out the holes.

Man your friend only has 48 miles on his 04?

Your problem: Mildew in the AC system. Go to Advanced Auto. Ask for Fram AC filters that are baking soda and carbon infused.
I had the same problem with mine (though not as bad) bought the $25 infused filters. Problem solved.

mine gets a weird smell too...but only when i'm pulling a trailer....sooooo whats going on??

I wish, cause thats an easy, cheap fix. I seriously worry about it sometimes...like is somethin burnin up, or getting hot?

jdos1 - where do the A/C filters go ( is this the same as your cabin filters?)

A/C Filters/Cabin Air Filters...same thing. Sorry for the confusion.

Yea I just replaced my cabin filters ( not from advance). I read a couple of threads about a musty smell but here's the thing, it's only when I roll down the drivers window. You can actually smell it in the window weather stripping but no where else. A/c, fan, and heat are all fine.

You've probably got moldy/mildewed weatherstripping. I'd try smelling the weatherstripping and see if seems like the source, if not just smell around the rest of the door and see if the smell is any stronger.

Have you left the windows down when it rained, by accident?

It does smell like It's the weatherstripping, I haven't left the windows down since I have owned it but there's no telling what the previous owner did. I think you replied back to the first post and said wipe it down with clorox and water solution which I haven't done, but will try. What got me was that two other nissans ( a titan and a frontier) both had the same thing and I have left my windows down in other vechicles and never had a smell like this.
