Talking Re: Service Department Experiences

If anyone is in Abbotsford, BC, Canada I would recomend Abbotsford Nissan. Their service dept. is a breath of fresh air. Took my 04 LE KC in cause the 4LO light was flashing, wouldn't shift into reverse occasionaly, grinding noise coming from trans area when it wouldn't shift and to top it off anti freeze leaking from the front end somewhere. I've got 102,000Km on it with Extended warrenty to 120,000 so they ended up replacing :Rad ,transfer case, rear diff and they found the left rear brake caliper was binding so they changed it too. All covered under warrenty, while they had my baby I got them to do the 96,000KM/48MTH service, she feels like a brand new truck that I loved from the start.

It's about a 2 hour drive to get to the closest dealership for me. Before I went to Abbotsford, I had taken my truck to River City Nissan in Kamloops, BC, AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE, the first time I went to them it was to get the AC repaired, wouldn't work when it was hot out. they ordered the parts went to install the first one( apperently there are 3) after installing they are supposed to re-program the computer, well their patch cord that plugs into the truck from the computer, breaks a pin off of it so they can't do anything. Off I go to come back another day.they ended up fixing the AC. So a month later the park brake light comes on when I'm driving and when I step on the brake they bite really hard. I really don't want to drive to the dealership so my Dad puts it on his trailer and takes it in for me as I had to work. when he got it there he had some difficulty shifting into gear and had told the mechanic this when he drove it into the shop. The next day I phoned to see what they found out and they said they reprogamed the ABS brakes and it wasn't covered under warrenty because no new parts were installed. Besides the warrenty on this sort of thing is only 3 yrsor 60,000KM, or this is the line they sold me for $204.29 CDN. They did nothing about the shift problem, so the next week is when I took it to Abbotsford. I would have thought that if I brought it in for a brake problem they might have looked at the brakes and found the Caliper hanging up??? Sorry I just needed to vent.

Re: Service Department Experiences

Dealer: Mossy nissan national city
Service advisor: Emmit
Experience: Very poor

oil filter was not changed last oil change. told me i would have to pay for them to check my titan because he and his mechanics kept assuming the problem is with my after market flowmaster catback. did not want to check again before claiming the problem was the flowmaster. i will not go to that service department again.

Re: Service Department Experiences

Cherry Hill Nissan - Cherry Hill NJ
Currently Mike
Experience - Excellent
Truck - '04 SE KC

Considering my negative experience with sales and parts, it's hard to believe this shop is in the same building
Side note to sales and parts:
1, just because you don't have the truck a customer wants on the lot is that really a reason to walk away from a 30K+ sale (literally in mid conversation).
2, Parts desk, you have to assume in the 21st century that somebody might actually know the retail price of an accessory before they call for a quote.

Obviously based on my 2 experiences above when shopping and looking for the sliding toolbox I was wary about the shop, but they are very near my house and my first visit at 3Kmiles was just an oil change. No problems so I decided to keep going back until something went bad, after 4 1/2 years nothing has.

I only put 6-7K on the truck a year so I am well behind the curve on fun things like brake judder and ATF switch issue. So I know the answers and have the TSBs in my pocket when I show up at the counter, but they have never said anything to me.

2/06 - 12K oil change 4LO light is flashing. I mention this when I drop it off, they say "we will look at it", when I pick it up the order shows the ATF switch replaced under warranty.

8/06 - Brake Judder shows up fast and hard (60 miles away). I know it's safe but it is a scary ride home, drop it off for oil and tell them about the shaking. They say no problem and replace all the parts in a couple hours.

7/08 - 30K means a $500 oil change (I know a little more than that is involved). I ran over a nail or screw and have a slow leak in the right rear (that alarm goes off about 24hrs after the air is added now). I switch to the spare and when I take it to the shop for the oil change I tell them. I got a leak the tire is in the bed, the spare is on. I took off my locking lug when I changed to the spare and left it and the key in my cup holder but never mentioned it to them. When I came to pick it up they fixed the tire for free (the crappy Goodyears are out of warranty) filled all the tires with NO2 (that wasn't free) and found my locking lug and put it back on.

They are always very busy, but will listen when you talk (there are 4-5 advisors at the desk), and have never attempted to give me any noise about any issue. I am impressed especially since I did not but the truck from them.

While I am not a fan of $500 or $270 services at 30K and 15K and think an air filter should be changed with every oil change, I trust their work and would recommend the shop to anybody in the South Jersey/Philly Metro area.

Re: Service Department Experiences

News update about CCN.... CCN is no more, Crossroads has bought them out and it's a whole new dealership. The sad thing is that Sharon is no longer there. I've always have had my service done there and I'm going to see if the new owners will go that extra mile like CCN did.
If any of the members here gets service at Crossroads, please keep everyone informed with the service you get. Last time I was in to get an oil change, I didn't get that warm fuzzy feel'n like I use too. lol

Re: Service Department Experiences

It sounds like everyone has had a lot of problems all around with dealers. I just brought my truck in to get serviced by Nissan of Sacramento and it wasn't terrible. Still had extended warranty and they fixed the problem without too much hassle.

Have had my truck there for various reasons. This dealer knows what there doing, very professional and helpful. There techs seem to know what the hell there doing unlike some other dealer's/shops I have been to in the past. Highly recomend this place.

Re: Service Department Experiences

Dealer: Nissan of Cool Springs, Franklin, Tn.
Service Consultant: Bryan Bock
Experience: Excellent!!!

Took my '04 Titan 85,000 miles and almost 5 years before the rearend started making noises....Really thought i was gonna get the run-around but was floored when Bryan called to tell me i was getting a new updated rear unit..He also informed me that they noticed some seepage from the seam in the radiator..

They got both things done under the ext. warranty in just one day...
Best 50.00 bucks i ever spent!!!!

Thank You Nissan !!!!!

Re: Service Department Experiences

Dealer/Location: Koeppel Nissan, Queens, NY
Service Advisor: Dan and/or Gloria
Experience: Generally good. On two occassions, the tech put dino oil in instead of the Mobil1 I requested. The first time, the service advisor caught it. The second time, I happened to see the tech doing it. Both times, they drained the dino, replaced the filter (again) and put in Mobil1. Now I watch them like a hawk and make it a point to ask the advisor to personally speak with the tech. They aren't cheap, but this is NYC afterall.

Re: Service Department Experiences

Dealer: Lithia Nissan Ames, IA
Service Manager: Troy Bush
Experience: Very Poor

Summary: Went in for frozen door handle problem. Found out there was a TSB for it at the dealer. Had 42k on truck with certified 100k extended warranty. He asked what warranty I had and showed him the papers. Said he didnt know if it was covered so made phone call and told me he was 99% sure it was covered. He said he would order the parts for me for all 4 doors. I said no I want to make sure it is covered before we do anything because I'm not going to pay for it if its not. He said he was sure it was covered and was supposed to of ordered the parts.

Waited 2 weeks and didnt hear back so I called the dealer and asked what was going on. They said theyd call me back and did and then proceeded to ask what vehicle I had and said theyd call me back and let me know. Waited again a few more days and still no word. So I went in to the dealer to find out what was going on. They said they just got the parts in that day so we scheduled the appointment.

Dropped truck off truck for appointment a few days later. Called the dealer a few hours later when it was supposed to be done. They told me they ripped the truck apart and found out they had the wrong parts and didnt get it fixed. I was pretty annoyed by this point. They reordered the parts and I rescheduled the appointment again.

Dropped the truck off at 11 yesterday to get it fixed. Came back to the dealership to pick up the truck at 4:30. Still wasnt done. They asked me if I had messed with the doors because the tech said someone had been in the doors already. I said you guys tore it apart once when you had the wrong parts and I have warranty so I dont touch my vehicle myself!

Waited about 20 mins and the truck was finally done. The service manager comes out and sits down and asked if we had a quote for the work because he was confused on what we had figured out. I said its covered under warranty you told me. He said you have a powertrain warranty and that doesnt cover interior! I said Im not paying for this, you told me it was covered under warranty and I said I wasn't going to pay for it if it wasnt. Basically he said they arent going to pay for it either but hes going to make some calls to see what he can do.

Is this a bunch of bull**** or what. Im so angry with this dealership right now.

Re: Service Department Experiences

FYI, the cheap skates at Power Nissan in Chandler, AZ are using generic gear oil (is is synthetic) but makes me wonder what other corners they are cutting.
